Silvia, Paola, Beatrix, Margrethe II, Elizabeth II never Crown Princess

Correct. Apart from the fact that in many countries the title 'Crown Prince(ss)' simply does not exist.

Donna Paola dei Principi Ruffo di Calabria became The Princess of Liège du moment she married The Prince of Liège. When her spouse unexpecedly became King, she became Queen. Belgium does not know the title of 'Crown Prince(ss)' by the way.

Miss Silvia Sommerlath became The Queen of Sweden du moment she married The King of Sweden.

Neither was Margrethe a Crown Princess. She was called Tronfølgeren (Thronefollower) because an eventual brother, even from a second marriage of her father, would have passed her.

Nor was Beatrix a Crown Princess. She was called the Vermoedelijke Troonopvolger (Presumptive Thronefollower) because an eventual brother would have passed her. The Netherlands does not know the title of 'Crown Prince(ss)' by the way.

Nor was Elizabeth II a Crown Princess. She was Princess Elizabeth of York, then The Princess Elizabeth, after her marriage The Duchess of Edinburgh and finally she became The Queen. An eventual brother would have become Duke of Cornwall (and eventually Prince of Wales) and would have passed her. The United Kingdom does not know the title of 'Crown Prince(ss)' by the way.

Neither Elizabeth II and Beatrix were ever The Princess of Wales / The Princess of Orange, because this title was reserved for the male Heir only. (In 2002 in the Netherlands the Act has been modified: Princess Catharina-Amalia will become the first Princess of Orange in her own right since Claudia de Châlon-d’Arlay, Princess of Orange (1498-1521).

Does Paola of Belgium count as a "Crown" Princess? Because if so it was definitely her...she left all the others in the dust when she was young, IMO.

And even if she doesn't count as a Crown Princess, in my opinion she was the most beautiful Princess in Europe during the Sixties, along with Princess Grace.

If Paola had avoided the Sun and not smoked cigarettes for so many years she would still be stunning, even though I think she is an attractive woman.

No, as other members already said also Beatrix, Silvia and Elizabeth were Crown Princesses.

Actually the question should be "Which Queen was the most beautiful one in the past?"
This was the question I wanted to ask.

Sorry, for causing confusion.

Princess Elizabeth I and then Princess Diana

Queen Elizabeth I has film star looks and that is why Prince Andrew looks like a Playboy and a film star. Princess Diana was very beautiful and that is why Princes William and Harry have the same film star looks.

I so agree with you! Paola would be beautiful in any era but her look really suited that era of the 60's and 70's. Simply stunning!

Elizabeth---she epitomized the glamour of the forties and fifties. All of the others were beautiful--especially MII, but whenever I see pictures or portraits of Elizabeth in those gorgeous gowns and jewels, smiling, well, she just looks radiant.

The remaining royal ladies have never been described as being beautiful by historians or journalists or camera-men of their era, but they disposed other very important attributes.
As one member posted, Queen Sofia, for example, has always been extremely spontaneous, candid and charming but not beautiful by any stretch of the imagination. The same is also true about QEII, Queen Beatrix, Queen Margrethe. What is true is that as they matured, most of them became very distinguished-looking.
As far as I know, it does not take much imagination, actually, no imagination at all to describe QEII, the then Princess Elizabeth as beautiful, perhaps not super model gorgeous, but her smile was and is absolutely fantastic, and I'm sure she was described as such by "historians or journalists or camera-men of their era" In fact, I'm almost positive. Give me a couple weeks to get through my final exams, and I'll re-read my biographies of her, and I'll let you know. But I can easily call her a beautiful woman, then, and now.
