I would imagine it was something to do with the sumptuous wealth and costumes/outfits/regalia they wore. Quite decadant! And delicously so!
H.R.H Crown Princess Merel of Austria. (I'd like to have a more difficult name. Sadly, that's out of the question. But if I could give myself a new name it would be Valerie or something)
I would love H.R.H. Crown Princess Marie-Angelique of Austria......and then afterwards H.I.M. Empress Marie-Angelique of Austria. And of course in the 18th Century.....hhmmm

I would imagine so too! For that reason I too am intrigued , and the more so since I visited "The Hermitage" in Amsterdam last year, where an absolutely Divine display called "At the Russian Court" had been arranged over 3 floors at either side of the building. It featured a lot of the Divine long trained Gowns of the Empresses and Grand Duchesses, their opulent and Grand jewelery, the state rooms and even one hall where one felt one was part of a Royal Ball.... just gorgeous! (although I was wearing one of My tailored lovely jackets over a long flowing skirt, it did not quite match up! Ooh But, one at least has to try when visiting such an event, no? )
There were also rooms with lots of information on all the Tsars and Tsarina's of the Romanov Dynasty, right from Peter The Great, till the sad end. I imagine some of the members would have visited this wonderful event.
please visit and enjoy: At the Russian Court: palace and protocol of the 19th century - Hermitage Amsterdam

As Crown Princess of Austria and Hungary you would be HIRH - Her Imperial and Royal Highness, though on being adressed this was shortened to Your Imperial Highness.

That has a ring to it. Nice touch.
My title would be either Her Royal Highness, Princess __________, or Her Royal Highness, Duchess of __________. If I were to give myself a title from my native country, then I would be Her Imperial Highness, Grand Duchess Daria Sergeevna Romanova (the sick thing is, the first name and patronymic are actually mine in real life, [well, I got rid of the patronymic when I became a US citizen]).
