Lovely black dress, the cut is just stunning yet very simple. Its nice that its strapless, the velvet is a great choice for winter. Pity that Kate has her hair down, she could've looked stunning with hair up.

The waist line is particularly nice on Catherine as she has a rather straight athletic figure and this Bustier (?) style is especially flattering on her. I think she looked fabulous and happy as did the handsome brothers.

Like the dress. But the look is a bit spoiled by all that hair.
She has lovely hair, but she always put all her hair to the front, is she would wear it more to the back we could see more of her jewelry and her beautiful face

And a few seconds out in the cold never killed a vital, healthy person. Bronchitis, what you can get from a cold, is not caused by the temperture, but by virusses or bacteria in the air.

Celebs do it all the time during Award Season. The last edition of the Bafta's wasn't exactly sunshine but everyone was alright.
I agree with you. The black gala dress is an all right choice. A ponytail would have accentuated the decollete area and necklace. The make up was so so as usual.

Just another fashion commentary with a touch of wit. Though I really can't imagine Catherine saying 's**t at all, unless really angry).

Yes I agree. Her hair is always or most of the time down, with this dress she should put her hair up she would look more beautiful. I like how the dress is so simple and velvet is a good choice for winter

It is indeed a gorgeous and well-fitting dress. Is it no longer a faux pas for royalty to wear black outside of mourning?

Definitely not. As shown Diana wore black in 1981. They even wear it to weddings sometimes.

Perhaps DM is reading TRF? Finally, they have noticed the similarity

1 stunning little black dress that has " Old Hollywood glam" written all over it!+
1 set of showstopper bling-

And to top it all off-

I loved seeing Diana's and Catherine's pictures side by side- just the image I remembered.

The dresses are indeed very similar. Diana's looked almost midnight blue in one of the pictures. The dress would be gorgeous in either color though.

I won't necessarily call the dress 'little', but I would definitely give it the 'Old Hollywood glam'. Wish I could fit into something like that and not look like a cow.

Yes, the escort(s) and the jewelry were splendid, but her smile was as usual, a million bucks (something I forgot to mention). Catherine never fails to light up a room.

Anyway, she is young, but she could have a pashmina and take it out immediately once inside.
I chuckled when I saw you describing +7C as cold. You'd be surprised how many people in Canada walk around without a coat on when temperatures get that warm in the winter.

For a "trip" between car and venue that is not something to groan about. Very nicely done Catherine. I live in the southern US and always chuckle when I see people put on ear muff when it hits 50 farenheit. But then I grew up in the upper midwest and 50 was spring like weather.

I don't believe she likes her hair up.

People are always saying she should put it up, but why, if she doesn't like it?
The few times she wore it pulled back somewhat, she seemed uneasy to me, as if she wasn't quite comfortable.
She has absolutely gorgeous hair, so she should wear it the way she wants to.

I agree, she has a beautiful hair and I like it down but sometimes she needs to change and looks different. People might like her more with her hair up, ultimately it's her hair and she can do whatever she likes with it

It's such a pleasure to see Kate wear a formfitting, figure-hugging dress that reveals and flatters her beautiful figure. It's such a great change from the flowing and draping dresses she's worn in the past, and I hope we see more of these knockout looks from her at upcoming events.

You and me both. That dress is simply divine.
