This blue gown, first worn during her first trip back to Austraila after her marriage and again worn during the state visit from Brazil, has always been my favorite on Crown Princess Mary. The color suits her skin tone and with her wedding tiara, she looks fantastic.

Crown Princess Mary's blue gown is beautiful. I love the ruching on the bodice. I think that blue is a very regal color, and it looks great on almost everyone (except for Sarah Ferguson in the photo featured on this thread).

I love that blue dress, it seems so sensual, you want to touch it. The color is extraordinary, especially when you compare it to the other blue dress (also lovely) of the lady sitting next to Queen Rania. It is rich, warm, speaks of sumptuousness, very royal. (I also like the outfit Rania wore her visit to the Sorbonne, so serious, sober and simple, the perfect outfit in an academic context without being stuffy.) To go back to colors and fabrics, I wonder if western designers have a reluctance to using color for power effect (as was done in paintings of royals, aristocrats, the high clergy) because of the history (sumptuary laws, certain colors and fabrics associated with power and oppression of the people?) This may be far-fetched but I am always amazed at the richness of costumes worn by non-European royalty. It really gives you something to dream about.

Most of the thobes that the Queen wears are by Jordanian designers, although she has worn thobes by Elie Saab in the past.
I guess most Middle Eastern designers and Asian designers feel more comfortable with these sorts of fabrics and techinques because they've grown up in a society surrounded by them.

I am sure you are right. They beg to be painted and immortalized. They bring out the best of the classical painters of the western world, be they Italian, English, or American. Rania would be a dream to paint, over and over again.

Cannot believe no one has posted this yet - the one blue dress to end all blue dresses Originally from People Magazine, me thinks.

Blue is one of my favourite colours and I think it suits most royal ladies. It´s a colour which has a distinction of its own, also one which has a great physical effect not only when wearing it, but also, in objects surrounding you.I love most shades of blue from the softer tones to the more glowing ones, like the one Queen Rania is wearing with Bernadette Chirac. I´m not too keen on very dark blues.
