Nice red outfit, I think that it is from Natan. Red suits Silvia so well.

Red outfit is fantasctic, little retro look is perfect for Queen Silvia.
Second outfit is nice too,but I prefer more bright colors for her.

The all-red outfit of Queen Silvia (a repeat) is indeed by Natan - IMO a rare success by a designer I usually don't care for at all:

The dress from Day 2 just reeks perfectly understated elegance, and I also love the coat worn over it. Designer here is probably British Stewart Parvin, who is also responsible for a lot of Queen Elizabeth II's daywear; Queen Silvia started wearing his clothes about a couple of years ago.
Deceptively simple tailoring, good silhouette, smart and elegant:

Me too LadyFinn. I didnt like the black wrap with the black dress overly much - very drap for Silvia IMO

The dress itself isn’t ‘drab’ at all but quite glamorous.
A tight fitting midnight blue corsage with a wide skirt flowing from under the hips, which has a see-through black overlay gathered into a bustle on one side.
I like it - it’s a kind of 'Tango style' dress with an overall Latin feeling, which suits the Queen. The black stole, worn over it only outside, matches this mood as well, IMO.
She’s wearing her set of black pearls along with it.

The outfit is beautiful, but it seems too dark for Queen Silvia at the first photo.
The fabric is high-quality!

i didnt say that the dress is 'drab' - it most certainly is not, i agree with you totally - just that i felt that with the dark wrap it felt drab to me. perhaps i could have said 'too heavy' - does that help to clear up the confusion?

I love the lighter or see-through fabic at the top, and the colour of her hair looks great in some of the brighter pictures.

That's indeed one of the style elements I like so much about Queen Silvia - in contrast to some other Royal ladies, quality, craftsmanship and fabrics in her whole wardrobe are always top-notch, and it shows.

I liked this gown but not the shoes she picked. They are too pointed & old-fashioned.

I agree with you, Boris. It does look very similar to his "bandage dress" styles. The style and colors look really beautiful on Queen Silvia.

The dress worn by Queen Silvia at the Polar Music Prize, seen for the first time last autumn during a trip to Brazil, is indeed from Hervé Leger’s Fall 2008 collection.
She had the black skirt overlay lengthened. Here’s the catwalk version I found:

She also wore a short black cocktail dress on the same trip which, looking at it now, appears to be Max Azria (who took over as chief designer in 2007) for Hervé Leger as well. Very elegant, IMO - quite the perfect, essential ‘little black dress’:

I never thought i'd see Queen Silvia in Herve Leger. It does look wonderful on her. :)

Once in Valentino

I remember that once I think it was when she had just had Victoria and was at her christening that Sylvia wore Valentino [I will try to find a link] and looked stunning in it.I think she was also wearing a snood etc. The Queen has alalways been so sophisticated looking except in some of the gowns that have truly big sleeves and unflatteringly difficult colours to wear.
I think her hats are decent but should be designed for her without the deep crown that seems to be the vogue these days..

Queen Silvia at the opening ot the Parliament yesterday. Stylish as ever. I don´t like her hat, it has too much of everything.

This recycled dress has never been my favourite. The pattern is much too restless.

Black outfit is really nice, hat also, but without these flowers.
The green and white suit could be good shorter. That long, asymmetric skirt is very unflattering.

I like the whimsical hat worn for the Opening of Parliament - along with the most simple of suits (no ruffle, no button, no pocket - very minimalistic) it does work for me and adds a nice, cheeky touch.
The two-piece dress at the concert has never been a favorite of mine either; also, it's from 2003 and has been worn to death. I hope it gets its well-deserved retirement now.

The jacket and the dress are nice, but I think that the colour of the jacket is horrible, much too screamingly bright.

Again the coupling orange-blue, I guess she likes it...quite sober, classical, nice. A good choice.

I'm not fond of orange shades in general, but by breaking it up with simple all-black (not blue), the look works for me here. The matching coral jewelry certainly helps as well.

I think the orange jacket is very nice and colourful.
It's pleasant to my eye.

I like the orange/dark blue combination, but I don't like the fabric of this particular jacket. The dress is very nice, though.

:previous: What is wrong with the fabric? It lightens her face and combines
very well with the somber colour of the dress. I love it..:flowers:

The jacket and dress are nice but certainly not together. :)
