Im delighted to see Rania in an Elie Saab creation after so long. Most of us remember how she almost exclusively wore his evening wear a couple of years ago. But back then Saab's gowns had a more exotic, middle eastern look with plenty of colour and rich embroidered detail (maybe that's why Rania wore them so often).
Compare that to his latest couture collection and there's quite a difference, his clothes have a more western appearance with each new collection.
Perhaps its a sign of growth as a designer or maybe he wants to reach a more international clientele.
I still love the gown Queen Rania wore at the BAMBI awards though, very glamourous, quite befitting the event.

It's the habit of almost every European Queen, no matter if they use personal dressmakers or well-known designers, and it adds the final touch to a regal appearance. I don't mean to say that Queen Rania should dress in a more conservative fashion - she is most elegant and I love a dress like the latest Ellie Saab, but I would prefer that her designers made 'one-of-a-kind' gowns for her.

All of her thobes are unique, in that they are made specially for her. Moreover most of the dresses she wears are adjusted slightly, so ultimately the are "one of a kind".

I think there is a balance between dressing couture and being extravagant. I am sure for every post praising Rania's taste and fashion, a similar amount has been written criticizing her extravagance on clothing. If Rania had more "one of a kind", which would probably incurr more expense, there would be even more harsh words against her. If the dresses are made at cost, there would still be criticism of free-loading or other.

thanks Little_Star for the overview of dresses. I didnt think any of the gowns were special nor would I consider as wow except the Elie Saab gown worn to the BAMBI Awards (November 2007). The other gowns were just to plain, boring for my taste. I never liked the gown worn to the MET Costume Institute Benefit Gala (May 2007). Ive seen more beautiful gowns, short & long in the past worn by the Queen.

Anyone noticed Rania hasn't been doing so well in the Hello magazine end of year poll for most elegant woman of the year and that she didn't feature at all in the poll for most attractive woman of the year?

i join dazzling opinion .exept the BAMBI gown all her gowns for 2007 were banal..i didn't like her dress during the Bulgarian State Visit, the one in morocco was ok but not suitable at all for event like festival of fes she looked out of the event to me, the other gowns are just ok nothing to do with the fabulous style and gorgeous look of QRania..and i agree with you chelsea she used to be in poll of hellomagazine during almost all the year but this year no

She's in the Most Elegant Woman poll, although to be honest I think Rania should be glad not to feature in the Most Attractive poll- the current winners are Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera....

Little Star,
Thanks for the overview of Queen Rania's evening gowns!
My favourite gowns are: (1) evening gala in Morocco (June, 2007) and (2) BAMBI Awards (November, 2007). I was glad to see Queen Rania to wear Elie Saab again. The dress by Temperly (if I am not mistaken) was a good (not perfect) choice for the Moroccan visit. Although I did like the hairstyle, Queen Rania's gown for MET Costume Institute Benefit Gala (May 2007)did not impress me much.

The only full-length photo of her gown in Morocco I've come across. Unfortunately I had to decapitate Rania in the process!
