I love me some animal print so this is a good look to me. A bit overstyled though
I agree. I like the animal print and the dress, but a few too many accessories. Some great dangle earrings, no brooch and some bangle bracelets and that would have been good. The diamonds don't actually look too good with the print.

I'm really not a fan of that leopard dress...

According to this blog, there was a gala dinner for the diplomatic corps held by W-A and Maxima.

There is a video, which confused me at first but I think the first 1.25(ish) relates to a day time meeting (suits, files day dresses) and the only gala related piece is at the end when Maxima turns in looking FANTASTIC with.....TIARA!

I'm sure more info will follow that makes sense

Máxima looked great! She has worn the dress before at the gala dinner and concert for King Carl Gustaf's 60th birthday in 2006 - it's by Benito Fernández

I like it much better this time around. Also the tiara has been placed slightly more to the back, which looks better. And she is really able to wear a lot of jewels without looking overwhelmed, she could even have worn the devant corsage and it would have been fine (though it is probably too heavy for a strapless dress like this).

Gorgeous....and the Dutch rubies. Yummy!!!

I love this dress. I don't know why, because it's very.... Maxima, not me.
I want to be invited to play dress-up in Maxima's closet.

Thanks for the clarification because I certainly was confused after watching the video. There went WAX in a suit, minus tie and two top buttons undone and then comes Max in an absolute knockout evening gown with rubies to die for. Huh?

The King, Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet and Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven all changed inside the Royal Palace. Queen Máxima came last at the palace and was already in evening attire. An explanation could be that her agenda was so tight and that she probably wanted to give some time to the three daughters back home at the private villa near The Hague.

Maybe she loves it to change at home, the three daughters looking how mama changes into a ravissante gown and glitzing with diamonds. Also that is "quality time" and I bet great fun... Then into the limousine and with a motor escorte from The Hague to Amsterdam.

Now that's a nice image of Max dressing at home for her daughters' pleasure and transitioning from Mommy to queen. I'm sure there are lots of giggles and oohs and aaahs all around. I wonder if they get to try on her jewels under her careful eye. Lucky girls!

And the hair, jewels and gown are just magnificent. I love that ruby red gown, wonderful color and such a great backdrop to the ruby set.

The animal printed dress isn't a favourite of mine, it's a little too busy for my taste and I'm not a huge fan of animal prints in general. However, I loved her red dress. That colour is fabulous!

Maxima in a gorgeous repeat white dress and sapphires! Love it. Post pix please.

Love it. Divine.
Now would be a good time for those rubies, they would really pop, whereas on the red dress they just blended in.
But the sapphires are not half bad either!

Hmmm, to me the skirt appears to be a bit see-through. While the top part seems to be double layered, from the hip downwards the material seems to be a bit thin. Maybe the reason why she keeps holding the scarf in front of her?

Positive: nice hair style & bling.

Note to self - longer slip next time. But she looks very pretty.

Majestic- that's the word. Appropriate because she is a Queen.;)
And if you ask me, the red ensemble with the tiara looked pretty majestic too.
Animal print- not so much.;)

Fantastic simple white dress to show off the stunning jewels! Best hair and make up in a while, terrific!

Indeed. Would rubies go better with that dress, or sapphires?

The top is too tight around the bust. Otherwise, this silhouette makes her look soooo fit!

Maxima should show her shoulders more often!

:ohmy:Wow, now that is how a queen should look when out for an evening, her gown is perfection and the jewels, my goodness, they are bright. I love her hair(please wear your hair up more dear Max), the makeup..........when she does it right, it's more then right, it's over the top gorgeous and beautiful. Bet her hubby is so proud that his wife shines so bright and happy.

I think this is a very sophisticated look for Maxima, well done. Would love to see a better picture of the jewels though.

Many thanks. Are those diamonds and sapphires?

Yes, I'm pretty sure they're sapphires and diamonds and moonstones, I believe. I think they're pieces from one of the larger parures that are no longer in use (or reconfigured for a modern wearer).JMO

Maxima looks stunning indeed. I love the flow of the dress, her hairstyle is great and that necklace is gorgeous! This look defiantly gets the thumbs up from me.
