If the skirt pulls that much when you walk, the dress does not fit.

I actually made a square necked, pencil skirted dress in a very similar pattern years ago. It was a very happy thing to wear.

I love the variety Max gives us. I just wish she would work on how garments fit her.

I love it - very springlike and very Max. The lady next to her looks like she's wearing a prison uniform. A visit to what country?

I don't have a problem with this dress, I think it's lovely and I agree that it looks rather spring like, which is very appropriate for the season we're now in. The colours also look good on Maxima. The only thing I don't like as much here is her shoes, they're just not really my cup of tea.

iceflower mentioned in her post that Maxima is visiting Myanmar (Burma). She's there with the UN. :flowers:

This is a lovely dress - I like the colours and the pattern and really like the asymmetrical fold at the neckline/shoulder area.

I love the style but not the print.

I'm not too keen on the brown dress, a little too dark - but it is nicely accessorised with the turquoise, which is a nice contrast.

A fresh, colourful spring look for Máxima on day 1 of a 3-day visit to Myanmar today, March 30

- it's a Natan dress Máxima first wore last September:

It is a Natan dress indeed, but Vermeulen received some help from a girl named Luna. Luna suffers from leukemia for two years. The make-a-wish foundation enabled her tospend a day at Natan. And with mister Vermeulen she designed the dress that was worn by Q. Máxima.

The brown dress is from Dolce & Gabanna. The CPss of Sweden has it in dusty pink.

Now as you've mentioned it I've also remembered that lovely story of the girl designing a dress. A great idea!

In addition to the above posted pics here's a full view of today's dress!

And Máxima today wore another outfit of recycled blouse and pants:

The brown dress reminds me of Princess Victoria's Dolce and Gabbana pink dress. I don't mind the brown dress but the turquoise buttons ruin it for me.

The second outfit makes me think she left her hotel in her pajama bottoms but I do like the top.

Dislike both of today's outfits.
Love yesterday's outfit- and the story behind it. What a cool thing! Love it with the hat too!

April 1, 2015 - Maxima in a recycled Natan outfit.

I do like this outfit and I like the bright color of her jacket. The overall is ruined by her hair, could've been styled a bit better when meeting with the President IMO. Talking about the hair, her hair has been styled and untidy during the whole trip, quite unprofessional IMO for any working lady especially as she is the Queen.

I'm not very fond of this particular outfit. The dress may be ok but it's ruined by the jacket which is plain ugly IMO. And yes, her hair needs a little more attention.

The material of the jacket seems rather stiff and it gives the impression that Máxima is much larger than she actually is. Not a flattering outfit IMHO. At least she didn't pair it with yellow shoes as she would normally do.

Interesting to see how different the whole outfit looked when she combined it with a turban/hat last year:

** Bigger Full view today ** June 2014 ** Jacket/Hat September 2014 **

I think the turban/hat completed the outfit very nicely last year because it does seem to alter the overall look without one. I prefer the yellow jacket with the beige-coloured dress Maxima (I think I probably said the same thing last September!).

When I read that Queen Máxima is on her way again in the framework of the UN or the Orange Fund, then I already know to expect nothing new and for sure no glanz und gloria (gloves, hats, glittering bijoux, etc.). The Queen is eh.... "working" and not there as Her Majesty Queen Máxima, representing the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

At the same time this is purely artificial: no any normal member of an UN Advisory Board is received by the head of state, as Queen Máxima happens in every country she visits. So at the one hand "No, no... I am just a member of the UN Advisory Board" but at the same time she makes use of all doors swinging open because she is not Ms Zorreguieta from Argentina asking attention for sustainable finances but no one less than Her Majesty Queen Máxima...

The Queen tries to make a sort of difference in no protocol, medium protocol and high protocol. I would recommend her to follow the example of her mother-in-law Princess Beatrix: always dress like a royal, even when it is not strictly a royal engagement you are attending...

I like it that she dresses for the occasion. Sometimes she even overdresses IMO for instance when she is
wearing a hat and gloves when she' s visiting schoolchildren inside.

She will not wear hats and gloves for just visiting schoolchildren, but when she opens a building, lays a first stone, cuts a ribbon or baptizes something, then she will dress up because she performs an official act Queen. Also the other ladies of the Royal House (Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet and Princess Laurentien) dress up for such events.

When Queen Máxima "just" visit a school, she is usually "underdressed" (no hat, gloves, bijoux):

The dress is nice but I don't like the blue buttons.

Awful outfit. There is too much going on.

the colors are very well matched but i still don't like the outfit although the jacket is nice.

I don't like the style of the coat.

In yesterday's episode of Blauw Bloed (Blue Blood), the weekly program on monarchies, this time it was the turn of Ms Cécile Narinx, since 2014 the Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar (Dutch version) and before that of Elle (Dutch Version) to comment on the clothing of the royals.

The program went back to the State Visit of Denmark. Ms Narinx claimed that Queen Máxima was attracted to the Danish/Dutch designer Claes Iversen because of the wedding dress he made for Princess Viktória de Bourbon de Parme née Cservenyák, the spouse of the King's cousin Prince Jaime. Ms Narinx was very positive on the items made by Claes Iversen for the Queen and expected he would stay as one of the Queen's favored designers.

Lovely coat and a lovely dress, they match well. Red is also a great color on Maxima.
