Unusual hat, unsual situation: note the lipstik.
Caption says:
WINDSOR - MAY 11: Queen Elizabeth II puts on lipstick in the Royal Box at the Windsor Horse Show on May 11, 1985. Prince Phillip was about to enter the dressage ring with his horse team.

The last hat was a bit controversial because of the pheasant feathers. I don't see very much the problem: after all, pheasants are eaten.

I personally think Her Majesty looks her best when wearing hats with larger brims, certainly because of her hairstyle. I think anything too close-fitting without a brim, emphasises her curls a little too much. However, I'm very glad she doesn't stick to the one style, although the variants of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother's legendary style look/looked perfect on both of Their Majesties.
Frederick Fox always makes Her Majesty look fantastic especially with feathers!

A... hat? worn at Chelsea Flower Show 1996. She is usually bareheaded at this event.
I love it. It's very unusual. :)
