Maybe she thinks she is doing the right thing by wearing Danish design. I looked at the Malene Birger collection, it's AWFULL! (As I stated above). That's nothing for her, she's way to petite and small (isn't she something like 1.60m/5ft?) and she looks too exotic. Malene Birger is for typically Scandi women, tall and blond. Then you can pull it off and it probably looks good (I don't like MB on Mary most of the times as well). Marie is typical classic little black dress material (I can imagine her with pearls and her hair in a chignon). Imo she would be perfect in Chanel (if J. can afford that..).

that's true, i also see her as a 'french' type of beauty, much more in the chanel range than in marlene birger. something classic would suit her a lot, although i'm sure she can find pretty things in marlene birger as well. i think mary usually looks very good in most of them.

I agree completely! As I said before, I really love Malene Birger, but she's completely wrong for Marie. It doesn' suit her personality at all and not her looks either. I think she will make a greater impression on the Danish people if she sticks to a more classic French or perhaps Italian style. Something that is hard for most Scandinavian women to pull off.

I think Marie look decent for that award show.. I don't understand why everyone thinks it's such an ugly dress & that it doesn't suit her well.. If anything, it's just the hair style that perhaps should be change, because this dress is sort of dark & kind of cover almost the chest area.. I think a simple bun would go with it very well.. Here's the dress worn by a model from the Malene Birger website for a comparison..

The dress doesn't look as horrible on the model, but then again, the model is tall, blonde, and very Scandinavian-looking. I agree with everyone above. Chanel would be beautiful on Marie. I am sure that Joachim could afford it.

IMO the dress is ugly on the model too. Those shoulder"things" gives me the impression, that both Marie and the model are wearing a childrens backpack and are on the way to school.

In that case, it might be the right dress for Marie! Isn't she still in the "Princess school"??

Marie just visited the Danish parliament --- does anyone have photos?
All I could see was a head shot - she looked like she was wearing an open-neck white shirt and a black jacket or sweater over it ---
Thanks!

I just hope poor Marie has not discovered this thread yet..........
I would be devastated if anyone made such comments about how I look...
I wonder why Mary's fashion adviser does not help out with Marie. She is such a beautiful girl with the correct outfits she would look smashing!

As far as I understand, the fashion advisers tend to cost money. Perhaps, Princess Marie can not afford having a professional to choose her outfits. If Princess Marie can afford hiring a professional, she can hire the one, who has helped Crown Princess Mary. Or perhaps, Princess Marie's current style is a new definition of the French chic... who knows?

I would not know if this a new French chic. When I see photos from the collections, sometimes I cringe...........But then again a 3 way mirror and a few fashion mags can be a good start. In the US there are a lot of department stores which provide a private shopper/assistant. They come free and if one needs help they provide them with styles that match their body built and life style. They are lifesavers..

I would imagine that there are many Danish stylists who would jump at the chance to work with Marie, paid or unpaid. Perhaps her advisers are focusing on more on her Danish lessons than on her fashion?

I also believe that designers would kill to have the chance to design for her. She is young and beautiful and needs a little guidance. Who knows? I am sure for one thing though, the transition must be difficult for anyone.
Wish her lots of good luck!

Well, I can give her credit for promoting Danish Design. It was most likely a gift. But I agree that there should be someone else besides Birger. It does not fit her. I don't think Chanel would either. When I think Chanel, I think of Princess Alexandra, Joachim's first wife. I think Chanel is too stuffy for Marie. She needs something more light and airy.

Or she could again raid Mary's wardrobe and let the colour of the dresses be changed professionally.

According to Billed-Bladet#37, September 08, Marie does have a stylist. His name is Dennis Knudsen.
I think it would be very boring if she would start dressing like Mary. They are 2 different persons in different positions with different tastes.

Well, in that case, Dennis should be fired. His taste and choices for Marie are simply awful.
Marie looked nice today at the opening of Parliament, but once again her, or rather her stylist's choice of hat for the day, doesn't do her any favors. That long giant boxy thing makes her head look long and huge. A delicate hat would suit her much better.
