LadyFinn, I like today's outift for a very warm summer day. She looks pretty, and her hair looks better than it has. I'm just not sure I like what she is wearing for this event, which is an Audience for the Lilly Foundation of Biomedical Investigation. Ladies present are in dresses, husband is in a suit. And Letizia is in what looks to be a tye dyed tank top with a vest over it.

For everyone who says that the palace approves of how she dresses, I ask what kind of message it is for the palace to say that the SRF will continue to dress in well made and well tailored clothing, but the CP and future Queen of Spain will dress for the majority of appearances as if it is "casual day at the office?"

Please do not take this as against Letizia:flowers: It is not. It is about what she wears to official functions. And she's not cutting it, IMHO, of course.

IMO it's no problem at all to criticize Letizia's fashion and clothes. If you say you don't like this or that she wears, then that doesn't mean you are criticizing Letizia herself. :flowers: It's just about plain fashion.
And I agree with what you have said. I think overall that's a pretty outfit (minus the shoes), white and pastels are colors that suit her very much. But for this occasion I also consider the outfit to be too casual.

The white vest+pants set is exactly like Varela's pantsuits with sleeves cut. It's a hot summer day, women don't have to dress like men with stiff $2000 suits, many profession women wearing stylish vest, blouse with pants. I think the outfit is overall stylish for a hot summer day although she could have worn a better quality pink blouse than the one from Mango.

Letizia today at audiences. The vest and trousers are probably from Varela, the vest is exactly the same cut as her suit jackets from Varela, only sleeveless.

The color of the shoes is purple, lighter than her top.
I love the vest and pants, it´s a lovely outfit, different :)
The top is ok, pink colour looks good with that white outfit, but the top looks a bit too casual.

I like today´s outfit, it´s appropriate for a very warm summer day. She looks good and calm.
PurePeople

She might have been a bit too excited over her new top for Mallorca and decided to wear it before arriving.

I dont mind the suit and waist coat but I cant get over the fact how she mixes a piece or two which is not for an official event but for the beach or out with the girls.

I love this outfit. Her hair looks really nice too.

I love that Letizia styled her hair this time, it looks amazing. I just hope she keeps it going. It seems to change her whole demeanor (less severe, more bubbly). I love the outfit as well, very summery.

I think her hair looks fantastic! Loose curls are look good for her.

A pony tail?? That's what teenagers wear.... not a Crown Princess on duty. On vacation, it would look lovely but not when Letizia is supposed to be dressed up... imho.

I can't find the picture any more but she once had a ponytail (I think during an audience) and it looked really classy on her. Not as casual as Victoria's ponytails for example.

Ah. Interesting. I would love to see the pic. All I could think of is Victoria's ponytails...:)

I like the recent outfits of Princess Letizia but IMHO, they are way too casual. Letizia seems to favor trendy versus fashion that would suit the occasion. I don't want all dressed up, but surely there is a happy medium somewhere ala her fashion during the first year of her marriage.

I am speculating, but maybe the palace directive to her is to project a young, vibrant image for the next generation. She has perhaps titled too much towards the casual style

I think ponytail looks really nice on her and will help to change her look from time to time.

The second one looks wonderful and would be a big improvement over the style she wears so much as of late. Ponytails don't have to be "teen" looking if done right, and these look great.

But then wouldn't her husband be directed to dress in the same way? Having one spouse dress in a suit and tie and the other dress like his teen-age daughter seems an odd directive.

Both ponytail exmples look nice. As long as it's styled right it can work.
At least a ponytail keeps her hair from looking messy.

I agree with you about the outfits as of late. They are quite trendy and cute, but not totally suitable for the occasion. I too wish there was a happy median that she could find. The A-line dresses she has worn (the green and orange) are wonderful, just wish she had more of them. And IMO, she really, really needs a hair cut and stop parting her hair in the middle. It's really aging her.;)

Crown Princess Victoria wears ponytails all the time, whats so wrong with it?

She looks wonderful with a ponytail, especially the curly one. :)

Indeed they can, donnaK. The photos you linked proved it! Letizia looks lovely in styled ponytails and can be a fashionable change for her.

Hi donnaK, is that Letizia kissing Charles?

Yes it was taken back in March 2004 at the funeral service for the victims of the Madrid bombings

It is lovely the way her hair is caught back here and it would be a nice change to see her using sytles like these again

What a great outfit for a summer vacation. She looks very relaxed and at ease with her beautiful little girls. I love the top & scarf combo. She really looks lovely.

I like it very much, great casual summer outfit. I prefer casual outfits of Letizia than formal.

Love it. Love it. Finally, a relaxed and happy looking Letizia! And even both of her daughters are sporting big smiles. Wonderful to see.
