September 1st, 2005 - During their visit to Panama. Thanks Larzen for the heads up!

Guess the last date mentioned can't be right because it hasn't been yet the 1st of september of this year 2005

I don't think it's too bad if she recycles her oufit... which I think she doesn't recycle too much... if you can think of the money it costs to spanish people... you would agree with what she does... which is what most spanish normal people do... infanta cristina does much of the same, the thing is that she is not in the spotlight as much as Princess Letizia is

In the last picture, she is wearing a typical kind of sandals. This type of sandals are the typical ones in the Balearic Islands and are originally made in the island of Menorca. They are called "abarques" and if you notice, Queen Sofia is wearing them too in this picture. I think I've seen Infanta Cristina wearing them sometime too. They are really comfortable and very popular among people in the islands.

El otro Felipe de Letizia

Who is the author of the suits that fill the closet of the Princess of Asturias? Felipe Varela is the designer. The confidence of the wife of Don Felipe is such that she has already ordered him the pre-mother wardrobe.
The Princess of Asturias has chosen his cut for several occasions. Almost all the suits that Doña Letizia has worn during this year and a half came directly from the factory of Felipe Varela, placed at the Madrilenian street of Ortega y Gasset. He has become the stylist chosen by the wife of the Prince to always look impeccable at her work meetings, receptions, weddings and galas. Her trust in him is amply demonstrated but, if there was any doubt, she ordered him at least a dozen of the premother models that she will shine until the next month of November, when her first baby is born.

His store is placed underneath the apartment of Infanta Elena
Felipe is always discreet when it comes to comment any detail on his relation with the Royal Family or with the Rocasolanos. Apparently it was Infant Elena who told Doña Letizia about this designer, who was formed in the best fashion schools. The Duchess of Lugo knew Felipe Varela because his store-factory is located right under her apartment. Since the very first moment, his relation has been of total fidelity and discretion. In the Varela’s factory, nobody reveals a minimum detail about Doña Letizia. But what catches our eye is the fact that the streamlined silhouette of the Princess matches perfectly with the carved models of this designer (a feature inherited from his years studying with Thierry Mugler), which he softens with smooth fabrics, amiable colours and a discreet ornamentation.
The future Queen of Spain knows that the jackets made by this designer are unique, elegant and unmistakable.

DID YOU KNOW THAT...
- He studied design and fashion in the famous school "Esmod" in the French capital?
- In January 1994, he returned to Madrid and established his own company, "Felipe Varela"?
- Two years later, he made his first appearance at the Cibeles Footbridge?
- He worked for prestigious companies like Kenzo, Dior, Thierry Mugler, Lanvin and Tarlazzi?
- He opened his first store in 1998, at the street Ortega y Gasset in Madrid?
- In 2000, he reached an agreement with the English Court to enter its malls?
- Now he is preparing his internationalization and the opening of two stores in New York and Tokyo?
- Doña Letizia has become the best ambassador of his creations?

Letizia also took the same jacket when she came to the Embassy of England to give the condolence for the attempts (it is necessary to be the only one that though it her does not button already, she does not still have very just)

Hmm... don't think they were the same jacket.

Just compare the collar of both the jackets. The one she chose to go to the embassy had a different hem and a lower button line:

Felipe Varela is the only designer that she choosed to wear until november. Why she doesn't use Victorio&Luchino, Paco Rabano and others?

Letizia's wardrobe is fantastic, I don't think she's ever made a mistake.

it's a pity she didn't ever wear anything from them. they really have great designs.

although i think letizia's wardrobe is suitable for a princess it's just that... suitable, not innovative nor modern. according to protoco, however, it's always perfect and i'm glad she is promoting the spanish fashion trying to use the less of international designers she can.

They both look fantastic. I love the way that they both look so relaxed and content. Sometimes people look "sloppy" in jeans, but these two look great, they really know how to dress down and still look good. Bravo to them both for greeting people outside and not just running off in their car. And Felip looking out for Letizia's grandmother was a wonderful gesture (placing his hand on her back).

I absolutely agree with you. They both have bearing, that indefinable quelque chose that makes them stand out in the middle of the crowd, even wearing a pair of jeans. They certaily look very attractive indeed. :)
