It's just a slight diversion talking about the juxtaposition of fashion and jewels for comparison and contrast. We may as well combine the two since there's nothing to talk about over on the jewel thread!

Oh, that Diamond Spray tiara looks soo lovely on her! Simple, yet so elegant. Such a shame that she is so averse to wearing it..

Let's not forget that diamond spray tiara also commissioned at the time of Charlene's wedding. If she wore that to Madeleine's wedding, that would have certainly been suitable and a nod to the occasion since Charlene wore it at her own wedding reception. It's delicate and not OTT, yet sparkly enough to have certainly fit the event.

And as a Princess Consort of Monaco, what would be the problem in wearing one of the tiaras worn by Grace; it is her right, isn't it? I think there are several of them that are small enough to suit Charlene's modest tastes if she can ever be persuaded to don one.

That would have been one lovely choice for the Swedish wedding last week! It's elegant, simple, and STUNNING.

I find Charlene's decision to not wear jewellery intriguing. There has to be a reason and I want to know what it is.

I agree. I actually sit here and think about it a lot - as I LIKE to wear precious metals and gems in my own style. I have come up with any number of possible reasons. I would like to be a fly high on the walls when the Princess and the Prince discuss this.

I will say, that I find his style to be very much more relaxed than his parent. Lots of open collars and sport coats with khaki pants.

Has Princess Charléne not her own jewellery thread?

This is IMO for fashion!

I think this discussion is on-topic here, since it seems to be Charlene's style at present to not wear jewellery, and if she's not wearing any there's nothing to discuss at the jewellery thread.

This has been discussed on the jewellery thread

Ups, this thread seems to be deserted!

My reactions, in order of postings above:

- bleary

- weird choice for a graduation

- nice, but blergh color

- ugh, so garish

- blergh, again

- nicer than most

Thanks for this post Duke of Marmalade. I find very little to pass any positive comments about in these latest outfits. I'm hoping this is just a temporary phase.

Poked my head in to see the current fashions, am not impressed, and heading right back out!;)

I think this is going to be a very quiet thread.

If this woman puts anymore beige or carmel in her wardrobe there will not be a metre of it left for the rest of us ...

For a while she has decided to stop impressing us. So I guess we are all disappointed.

Beige doesn't suit everyone though its a very neutral color. She needs the right make up for it and thats something she lacks quite a bit at events. She looks good in color, remember that plum evening dress? That was a really nice color for her. Moreover, the orange dress (same version as the beige) looked really good on her. Not sure what it is with beige for her.

I think she has the potential to be very striking, but it might take a bit of time for her to work out how to make an impact as opposed to just looking like she wants to be anywhere but where she is.

.

Charlene at two events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Societe des Bains de Mer on July 5th and 6th. I think she looked good in the recycled dress in creme (plus hairdo and earrings). I also like the colour choice for the dress today, but the cut of the upper part is not nice:

EARRINGS; quick, open the jewelry thread! And they look like diamond drops. Charlene really pulled out the stops, didn't she?;)

The blah beige of the first dress was just bland. A sea green or light turquoise for the summer would have been beautiful. At least with the second outing on July 6, she was more adventurous with the color scheme.

I love the second outfit-COLORFUL, young, summer-appropriate. But I think it looks weird because she chose not to wear the proper undergarments.

The first dress is simply terrible. I neither like the colour nor the design.

The second one is cool but I agree that she should have worn undergarments.

Oh, finally some color! The second dress is great, and fun. The first dress, however, not so much.

Interesting that we can have such different views about these dresses. :)

I think the first dress is painfully boring in colour, pattern, and style, and far too long; it's dragging on the ground. And I think the colour does not suit her at all. However I like the second dress very much. It's much more colourful and I like the cut, which is much more interesting and flattering, and it's a better length.

During these two days of fest, she was very beautiful and smart.I liked the two dresses, they are wonderfull. The colours of the dressof yesterday fit her very well , I like the two hairdoes and particularly of the second day.which is simple. It fits her very well. She was the princess sovereighn.

The second dress looks like some old house dress she has no makeup on and not even earrings again I am just getting tired of this whole under dressed look IMO she needs to smarten up

Why does she need to "smarten up"? She is the wife of the ruler, and, as such, the highest lady in the land and Albert appears to approve of what she wears. She can wear what she jolly well likes.

ETA Based on a quick look at the way Albert has been dressing lately, I have a sneaky feeling that fashion and appearance are not very high on his list of priorities so I can't see him dictating to his wife how she should dress, and if he isn't going to do it, no-one else is likely to.
