To be fair: yes, the Prince of Wales has a style, but it is rapidly becoming very outdated. He has the habit to wear his (undoubtedly arch-expensive and handmade) costumes completely out. This can last one or two decades or maybe longer. That is visible, one can see that a costume is baggy (while the trend is fitted), that it does not look crispy, that the colours or dessins are quite oldfashioned. Suddenly the Prince of Wales (or his father, a great desser as well) become brontosaurs in appearance.
As the Prince of Wales has noted, he becomes "fashionable" and hits the best-dressed lists at least once or twice a decade, proving his point that men's fashion is cyclical. Just like a broken clock is right twice a day!

Hopeless is indeed the word!

If Haakon is so fond of showing how well shaped his legs are, why doesn't he wear a skirt instead of too short trouser legs?

And William is back to his vicar-outfit - and blue...

Both get :doh::doh: from me.

Even Harry defaulted to his blue suit last night....

There was really nothing wrong with the two gentlemen. Haakon's brown-with-blue leather shoes are the trend of the moment. The double-breasted jacket also is the current trend. Note that it is the sharply tailored version, not the awful 1990's big oversized double-breasted coats. I can not go along with your criticism: for this casual event the Norwegian Prince was very in line with current mode. That can not be said about the British Prince whom looked duller than dull but nevertheless was appropriate for this low key event with youngsters.

Exactly. Dull and Duller
Now to a more stylish Crown Prince. Frederik opening an art exhibition

pairing a dark blue shirt with this suit, excellent!

Well, well, well. Who saw that one coming!
Frederik the boheme.
He glides into the fashionable arts-circles here.

Modern, artistic, fashionable.

I'll say this is one of his best civilian attires yet. He gets :notworthy::notworthy: from me.

I quite liked Haakon's double-breasted jacket as it is indeed en-mode at the moment - nonetheless it was too short for him.

Prince Philip looks impeccable as usual - the coat is lovely.

We can always expect Prince Phillip to deliver, even now that he has retired.
You can't put a finger on his outfit.:cool:

Prince Edward... (Thanks, Princess Larisa)

Well, that's a roller-coaster!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DU29dC_XkAErhdi.jpg
That made me happy - almost.
Interesting tie.
Double-breasted suit.
Nice handkerchief.
Pants that contrast slightly with the suit.
Then he went ahoy sailor with the two top brass buttons. :ermm: Did he intent to sing a sea shanty and dance a jig?
But all in all

Then... I don't know what happened.

For whatever reason he decided to wrap himself in a suit rather than wear one. With, what looks like a very small head protruding at the top, like a frightened turtle.
That ruined everything. Nothing can compensate for that. A major fail. :argh::argh:

This time at least the suit fitted him.
http://new-papare.s3-ap-southeast-1...bums/126/a1f207f88b266ba49a612c14ea145601.jpg
But apart from that very little to write home about.
The handkerchief is obscured by the lapel.
The tie is a little encouraging, - blue of course.
The shirt is boring.
- So ? from me.

And here he has wrapped himself in the suit again.

And we can see that the village-vicar look isn't something that only William is fond of. His uncle is up there as well.
A very practical hat for hair-challenged gentlemen, but where is the pang-effect? This hat is fine for a country-fair, but not combined with that jacket.
The tie is discreetly interesting and that's a nice touch.
Now we come to his ring. Apart from a wedding-ring, gentlemen should only wear rings on their little-fingers (never on both little-fingers!) and a fairly big ring is acceptable, so Edward is doing fine her.
Gentlemen = a wedding-ring + max one ring more, if any.
Liberace, rap-stars and pimps = wear as many rings as at all possible and as flashy and big as possible.
To illustrate, here is a photo of Liberace: https://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/images/liberace-1.jpg
- So apart from the tie and the ring and the hat, Edward presents a ? image here.

Nice to see that he too wears his wedding ring behind his signet ring. But let's be honest, even his grey suit has a little fun going on with the pale check stripes. Nice to see Charles isn't the only one wearing grey.

Good to see him with a fedora style Panama hat and I have to admit it looks good on him. Perhaps he will share with William the sweating chrome domes or, in William's case a frozen, blue-tinged dome is just not a good look~

Well, William, and his head, can be glad he isn't visiting Scandinavia this week. It's cold now! :D

Let's have a look at Joachim, being a perfect gentleman we can expect him to dress for the occasion:
http://kongehuset.dk/sites/default/...0180205-150936-l-1000x665we.jpg?itok=DPbJPICj

A casual, stylish yet appropriate look.
The first thing we notice is that he has left his jacket unbuttoned. This is when one can get away with that, not when wearing a tux!
He has opted for blue on blue. And even though some here - I won't mention Pranter ;) - who are not that fond of blue, he has at least chosen contrasting blue hues.
Notice how his handkerchief, which gentlemen always wear, matches his shirt. Now, normally you'd think our Marie is responsible for that, since most men on this planet could live for 500 years without ever understanding the concept of matching colors. (No man ever truly will, but some will at least understand the basics). But in this case I actually believe it's Joachim's brainchild.
The refreshing part is his pants, light khaki and a fine contrast to his jacket.
Notice how his belt marks the boundary and is in complete contrast to everything.

- That's how you get away with being casually stylish.
He'll get one  from me.
He'd got one more, if he'd chosen a funnier tie.

Muhler , Thank you for that fine selection of Prince Henrik's style. :)

You are welcome, Tihkon2. ?

If others should feel like posting a favorite photo of PH, please do.

IMHO, in the second photo he looks like a priest ;)

Well, as we have learned here in this thread, William has a secret dream about being a country vicar. Perhaps he should wear an outfit like PH's?

Edward really needs a better tailor or to buy better fitted suits.
It looks like he can swim in those

Most of his suits look like they were bought in the 80s early 90s. too baggy.

I do like his choice of ties though

I’d say they probably were bought in the 80’s. I feel like he’s worn the same suits for years, whereas his wife updates her wardrobe every 6 months! Maybe Edward just doesn’t care for fashion and his wife just leaves him to it.

He does have a heap of fascinating ties though. He has ones with horses in he wears to Ascot and he has one which he worn to his children’s christenings with teddy bears on it. Perhaps wearing funky ties are his way of expressing himself. I’m also sure he has one with farm animals on it and a Santa Claus one.

Yes, really interesting. It's sad that he's gone and we'll never see the like of it again. The vivid colours, the hats, the cloaks...

Yeah, he’s got all sorts of interesting ties.

I’m guessing he, like most men, gets a lot of ties as gifts for birthday, Christmas, official gifts, etc. and probably has a gag one for every occasion.

And a post dedicated to a man not afraid of pattern or colour:

Great work, Princess Larisa. ?

There is hope for Edward - and this thread yet. ?

Thank you all for the recap of Henrik's style. Certainly colorful
One of my favorites is the vest he wore to King Carl Gustaf's birthday

https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/...ustaf-Sweden-Celebrates-His-60th-Birthday.jpg
A touch that completes a look (we also seen Frederik with a colorful vest too)

And obviously not a time for fashion but I couldn't help but smile when I saw Joachim's purple scarf and Frederik's 3-piece suit. Henrik would be proud :flowers:
