William, like the vast majority of royal men, looks crisp, elegant and well-tailored at his events and appearances, with appropriate clothes that befits his position. Not sure why he's singled out from, say, Willem-Alexander or Felipe or Daniel as a particular object of scorn in this thread.

Prince William Style, Fashion & Looks - StyleBistro

Singled out for scorn? I guess people see what they want to see. He is certainly not alone on this thread.

Joachim and Fred for their red pants and other choices

:previous: Mark my words, one of these days he'll give in to his inner hippie, strap a guitar on his back and head for San Fransisco.:potofgold: (We seriously need a hippie-smiley)
- Wearing a tie naturally...:p
I don't think Pope Francis wears his red shoes. Perhaps Joachim stole his.

King Philippe
Phillippe in his birthday photo this year.
no words for that ugly bright teal with purple stripes shirt:ohmy:

William comes up on this thread the most right now as there was an article about his clothes on tour which stemmed a lot of the talk. If you look at the older thread (this is part 2), you will find he is in good company.

:previous: Good grief, it looks like Haakon takes the lead in the worst dressed men's category! The too small coat, the slipper shoes with what looks like goloshes and the mismatched trousers and, is that water in the basement just to finish the "look"?

Are we sure that Haakon is wearing galoshes and they are not so ghastly new pair of shoes we will never see the end of? It's hard to tell from the picture.

I'm not really sure what to say about the whole look. The jacket is too short, the trousers are unpressed and the dour colours seem unprofessional to me.

I don't mind Haakon going more casual in his style if he wants to, one can look clean-cut and smart in a pair of jeans and a nice crisp shirt.

My point, should it be necessary to point it out, is that Daniel is a top contender to the prize of The Most Predictably Dressed Royal Man of the Year,

They all get their day to shine if you look

Like his father, Frederik has also dab into wearing the color purple, but of course with much sexier results ;)

the glasses just complete the look

Casually dashing.
How come it doesn't work for me? :ermm:
For whatever reason the sweater always seem to be a bit tight around around the belly. And I since I haven't changed size in sweaters for twenty years there must be a different explanation: Insects.
Tiny, nocturnal insects that fly around and shrink clothes.
I've tried to call in the pest control but they are always too busy with something else...

:previous: indeed. Although Frederik's red pants are fantastic ;)

Here are two examples of Haakon's horrible fashion (trying too hard to look hipster) :p

In all fairness it should be mentioned that Haakon is Norwegian and here even the gods have given up.
In Norway this is actually considered a very formal attire. That is, for the few Norwegians who notice.

Once Norwegians are old enough to walk they are issued a sweater, a knitted cap, sturdy trousers, knitted socks, practical shoes and a rucksack. And unless restrained they will head straight for the hills.
Here is a typical Norwegian you will encounter everywhere in Norway :):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UAOCGLfaV4

They will wear this outfit until it's completely worn out or they die, in which case they are buried in it.

Due to the spectacular scenery Norwegians will march around in the hills in hordes, completely oblivious to anything and anyone, let alone how they dress, breathing in lung-fulls of fresh air, and as we all know, too much air affects your mind. And when combined with a diet of fish they become completely out of reach fashion-wise.
I know. It's a shock for many of you to see the Norwegian in this clip, but the rest of us living in Scandinavia are used to the sight and we know that they are happy. Blissful in fact. :)

And that is why Haakon is dressed the way he is, and that's why there is nothing anyone can do about it. :graduate:

I was stunned by the fact that no two items were the even same colour let alone style!

But then Muhler posted and all was explained. Many thanks, I was getting a headache just looking at it and trying to figure it out. Now I find there is no logic to it and all is copacetic.

:previous:  It really is pretty horrible.

I fear Haakon is a genuinely hopeless case.
But we should always look on the bright side: Haakon will no doubt entertain us for many years to come. And for that he deserves a

I think it has long since been established that when it comes to male fashion among royal men, PH is in a category entirely on his own!

Recently we saw him in a green schlager-singer suit, but what we did not see was the leather-drivers-helmet he donned on the way home!
I'm... I'm speechless and in awe.

But his oldest son is up there too, when he isn't busy wearing all sorts of scarlet garments and charmer rags, he seems now to have taken up his father's habit of wearing necklaces.
In this case in the shape of a mini-replica of a national treasure, a 3.400 year old wagon made from gold: https://app.box.com/s/dtgvwx14hgebgswuitnp8pt9ifcdq9dd

Eat dust, Harry, William, Daniel, Willem-Alexander! But not Haakon, he is... well... he is also in a category of his own...

Perhaps Henri plans to take a vintage motor car out for a run later, with the Queen in the passenger seat.

I can see Henri has trained his sons well. Frederik has always had a certain flair. By the time he is his father's age it will be in full bloom!

:previous: I wouldn't rule that out at all! :ninja::queen: Vrooom!!

As for his son. Well, I think he will get there sooner than we think, unless Joachim overtakes him.
Once PH goes to big chateau in the sky, I think Frederik and Joachim will loose all inhibitions and then an entire thread here on TRF will be dedicated to them. - Mark my words.

Mary will risk not even being noticed! :royalrobes::photo: :ermm:

:previous: oh Im pretty sure Joachim is already his father's heir in the "interesting" fashion department. I can never forget his bright pink pants:ohmy: and his army camouflage tux . and the velvet coats, red, blue, etc. too much velvet to count :ROFLMAO:

Frederik knows how to add a special touch when attending different events.
For example, his recent outing to take his daughter to a concert. that calls for a special necklace, and being the proud Dane that he is (and history lover), decided to have the replica of a national treasure. ;)

now for one of his events today. an art exhibit. well that calls for a tie with color. and some special shoes;).

now dont go off just yet, in this photo they show that they are darker purple

the splashes of purple look really well with his grey suit

I like his tie.
Got one almost like that myself.

But the shoelaces...

Without mentioning Sweden, there are countries where such shoelaces would lead to an arrest for public disorder!

Well, what can one say? Frederik's shoes are a little, um, how can we say? "different" with a grey business suit, and his tie is absolutely peerless . . . but the shoelaces? Utterly inimitable! :D

It is also worth remembering . . . he could have worn his blue suit!

Well women match their shoes with their accessories  He was just doing it with his shoes and tie. Maybe the trend will catch on

a blue suit to an art exhibit? nah. Frederik knows how to dress for the occasion. ;)

agree:p

1. Aging: I think it's difficult to gauge the age of any of his suits as there are so many blue suits all tailored the same. Perhaps he just had the tailor make half a dozen, same cut, same colour, same fabric, to save time choosing his wardrobe for the day.

2. Wrinkled: Yes it was humid but, in all honesty, is there a specific Royal/Political tailoring trick to enable men to raise their arm and wave and not have their suit look rumpled by the stance rather than just plain wrinkled?

Yes. Use the royal wave where you unscrew light-bulbs. :king3: Surprisingly, it works. (Due to an unfortunate oversight by the admin we don't appear to have a waving royal smilie, so this will do)

I would love to see all BRF men smarted up. Throw out all those blue suits and double breasted ones and get into a modern cut grey suit.

But here is a photo of PH to cheer you up. :)

He has been a little subdued lately, almost normal :ermm:, but now he is himself again.
Here for a formal dinner: https://app.box.com/s/rkfx3kgmyneev5l3uuzvx76f9n3yuiro

Schlager-singer-jacket with black piping - check.
Handkerchief in the pocket - check.
A vest, appropriate for an elderly gentleman - check.
Necklace-thingy, appropriate for an eccentric gentleman - check.
But no watch in a chain - uncheck.

Actually PH on that warm evening reminds me of this beer commercial of "The Thirsty Man". - A fully attired late 1800's gentleman.
No wonder they died like flies on hot summer days back then, with all that clothes!

I would love to see you tell Prine Philip how you think he should dress

Carl Phillip is admittedly a sharp dresser, a clear reversal to his French ancestry no doubt.

However, I should very much like to shear his head. :D

I've never been able to understand the current male "heroic" hair-fashion were the hair is too long and filled stuff so that it looks unwashed.
