I agree about the season.
The skirt was first worn in February 2009.

The coat is nice but it doesn't look very "warm" for a cold December night in Denmark. It looks more like a dress jacket not even a real coat. I agree trousers would've been better... and warmer.

What is it with Mary and ill-fitted trousers too long, too big, they look really really odd, like old ladies' pants.
I like Fred's look and they look nice as a couple on this occasion.

I agree the pants are too long and a poor choice around a swimming pool. Love that bag and yes they look relaxed and happy together.

The overall look isnt that bad. The scarf is really nice, nice colors but the sweater doesnt match and there was no need for the belt IMO. A purple sweater wouldve looked really nice and would match the scarf.
I dont think the pants are that bad, they just look too long, I like the looseness of them

I am very glad she wore pants, given the perspective of the swimmers in the pool looking up at the Crown Prince Couple, if CP Mary had worn a skirt, the swimmers would have been able to see up her skirt!!!!

i agree with yo probably that's the reason she used trausers!!!!!

Trousers were the best to wear to this engagement, however, they should have been altered to fit better and definitely shortened. I don't see how Mary could avoid tripping on the bottom or catching her in the hem and possibly falling. I know, it happened to me. The legs are too full also. Mary does seem to have a bit of a problem with wearing pants too long, but then again, getting trousers to fit properly and look good is a problem for me and most women I know. The only woman who doesn't is Letizia.

Good point! Well, the pants really aren't that bad, but they're a little too long and too flared. Maybe she has a little cold and that might be the reason for the scarf inside. Pity that the colours of the scarf don't go well with the sweater. The belt is not necessary and none of the parts of the outfit seems to match very well with the others. She looked nice, though IMO.

The trousers are indeed too long, but the rest of the outfit is quite nice. I especially like the scarf

Scarves are quite the fashion here in Scandinavia right now, don't know about the rest of the world.
I took a look around my office today, and 7 out of 10 girls are wearing a big scarf inside, including myself

I am soooo bored of this outfit being repeated again and again in different colours!

It's the same thing the whole time when she attends a more ''casual'' event!! Loose trousers, this blouse with those awful ruffles, a little belt, a cardigan, a scarf and the Bottega Veneta bag!!

To me it seems that that's an outfit a much older woman would wear!
Please Mary don't do this again!!
