Mary has the most style of all the European royalty. She is contemporary and never dowdy.  She is definitely a leader in fashion.
Im sorry to say she dsnt have the style of "ALL EUROPEAN ROYALTY" there are some royaltys who are well or should say better dressed than Crown Princess Marry. For example, Crown princess Letizia of spain, Princess Mathilda of Belgium..
Misally:

I think you should visit the Spain royality forum on LTR, and you will see by youself how stylish is Letizia: choice of color, cut of the outfits and how she handles herself and you will change your statement (if you can be objective of course)

Plus Crown Princess Maxima, Princess Caroline of Monaco, Princess Claire of Beligum, Princess Alexandra of Denmark.

Mary's still finding her way around in terms of personal style and fashion sense. To say that her style right now beats the other princesses of Europe hands down or that even Mary is a leader in fashion in comparison to these other ladies is much too premature and a major joke. I would harldy call wearing a macrame belt around your waist like what one used to hang plants with in the 80s as style.
The macrame belt was a little odd. Not her best day, IMHO.

Frankly, although she's not my favorite, the only one of all the Princesses that is close to what one would call an international fashion or style icon is Princess Caroline of Monaco. Icons don't just follow trends--like the elegant and always very well-dressed Marie Chantal--they set trends. Only time will tell if Mary or Letizia--the two newest of the bunch--will become fashion icons. The others, if they haven't yet begun to emerge as such, it's unlikely they will.

a gentle query ... no room in your life for a bit of experimentation ?

The others, if they haven't yet begun to emerge as such, it's unlikely they will.
obviously you don't follow Princess Mathilde ... too bad .... now she has style !!!
I agree she has style--and since this is a Mary thread I think Mary generally dresses nicely--but I understood the topic to be fashion leaders or icons. I think there is a difference between being well-dressed and with style and being a leader or fashion icon. And it's only my opinion that most of the royals do not fit the bill for "fashion leader or icon", but many are very stylish. That's all.

We have a thread in the CP Mary MB about Mary recycling her clothes. Because if you look closely at what Mary's wearing, you realise that she doesn't always get a new outfit from head to toe - for example, her excellent outfit in Aarhus during the Summer Tour consisted of a new coat and dress (well we haven't seen it before), but the hat was previously worn at the Melbourne Cup in 2002, the bag had also been worn previously, and I think the shoes have been as well!

Thanks to nada, fashionista and Alisa who found some of these!!

Anyway, enough talking, and more posting!~

Princess Mathilde is very stylish in an elegant and subtle way. Princess Caroline (no matter what anyone thinks of her as a person) is also a very fashion savvy woman. Princess Letizia is quite stylish so I think there are very many princesses out there who have just as much style as CP Mary. ;)

Jokes aside, yes absolutely.... I think all of the princesses have their own unique sense of style....

Well, i thought the belt was a very lovely and thoughtful small touch for the dress, i like details like that. and i absolutely love people that could mix and match their clothes!!! makes for a refreshing look. :flower:

How tall is Mary? She looks to be about 5'8'', but I could be wrong. Thanks for any information. :flower:

No consensus on Mary's way of dressing  .... :innocent:
I don't think that Mary has completely found herself just yet style-wise that is.

She has certainly worn things that have been wonderful on her, but she does seem to jump around a bit.

I would say that in total she does appear to be tasteful, but doesn't really look as comfortable in her clothing as some of the other Princesses. Of course, Mary is a new Princess, so there are adjustments to be made and lots of time.

I have to disagree. I think out of all the current princesses (apart from perhaps MM), Mary has been the most prepared to step out of the princess mould - by that I mean not wearing what others expect princesses to wear. Her clothes are things that we could wear, instead of those boxy suites that other princesses always seem to favour.

And, as everyone can clearly see from the list, Mary mixes and matches her outfits... and this perhaps more than anything else suggests to me that she's not a follower, but someone who has an independent attitude towards clothing style.

She is more than prepared to create an outfit with what she's got. :flower: :flower:

LOL! of course not! That would be unrealistic. Can everyone agree on whether or not Maxima's outfits are elegant/harsh... whether Mathilde's is elegant/boring, whether Alexandra's is too old/elegant???

I think you'll find that there's no such thing as universal opinion especially in regards to what people wear.

I completely disagree with you.

Mary has definitely worn her share of boxy suits, especially most recently when she and Fred toured parts of Denmark. I also found that she wore some of the stiffest of hats which did not suit her well at all. They were beautiful suits and hats but not meant for her. She also worn quite a few suits that had jackets that were not really tailored for her particular figure and although they were of nice colors and material, they didn't flatter as well as they could have if they were to have been cut a bit differently.

I don't find that Mary is doing things that other Princesses do as does her sister-in-law Alexandra. Alexandra as well sometimes wears things that maker her appear older and that are cut too harshly (also possess too much material) for her small frame, but I guess for some it is like wearing a uniform.

Mary hasn't stepped out of any mold, IMO. She is the same to me making some of the mistakes by wearing what she feels that she should wear at times instead of what is most flattering on her.

No, I think must disagree with you in many instances. Mary hasn't been innovative in the least. She is tastefully dressed which is good, but that's all. Mary is no fashionista or style icon. When she is she will then set the trends and never follow them, and create her own personal style.

I agree. I really like Mary's style. Very chic yet down to earth. I think her personality reflects a lot on the way she dresses too.

Are there any photos available yet of what she was wearing to the ballet the other night?

A fantastic Crown Princess with Fantastic Style!
