Why amazing, if I may ask?
I have to say GOLD shoes for a day event, messy hair and shiny white nylons dont do "amazing" for me, she looked amazing in the spanish wedding, or in Thailand, here she looked normal, like she usually does. But anyway, it is just an oppinon and other have other oppinions which is as it should be, it would be boring if everyone felt the same and it was one long Amazing Grace choir on every event she went.

I will says he seems to be working very hard lately, almost engagements every day, it is good that she feels up to it.

I agree. I was surprised by the hallelujah chorus for a quite ordinary Máxima with her usual ravaged hairdo.

The only amazing thing is that Máxima apparently never has seen herself in pictures, otherwise she would have known how untidy and messy she -unintendedly- looks.

I saw her picture in today's newspaper and the hair didn't appear to be as wild as usual, so she might finally have found some hairspray. What was the event she visited about btw?

re: Willem-Alexanders public appearances: I wonder if HM is letting him in on her present proceedings with the goverment that has to be formed. It might be interesting for him to get an idea what is expected of the Dutch monarch.

You may use TONS of hairspray, but if you have long hair + strong wind it always makes what it wants.
So maybe there wasn't that strong wind  and her hair looked normally

Some of you could give Maxima a break with her hair, it´s long and ovbiously doesn´t like to use it tied.

Maxima would look better with a shorter style in my opinion. I find her long hair a bit too messy.

I would love to see her with a new hairdo! I liked it when it was shorter, e.g. after the birth of Alexia.

The hat's in New Zealand are special!! It looks very beautiful when Maxima it's wearing!

Hey maximafan, were do you live in moerkapelle?????

I live too in Moerkapelle

Hey, and besides, I like that Max isn't always perfect- she doesn't care as much about her appearance as she does about what she is doing. Sometimes I think that she is heading out of the house (palace) and then Alexia or Amalia come up and just want to give her a big hug and muss her hair. It makes her more real, less "barbie doll"

I agree that its nice for her not to always be perfect, no one can be perfect all the time. Its the intentions or what is inside you is that counts. Yes, people might look at the way tou dress and she is a stylish princess. Her hair could get messed up from the wind that wont be her to blame:)

Second;Henri, nice as he can be,has this thing with the Princess,it's either Himmelhoch Jauchzend or zum Tode betrübt,"Our Chica Latina" or the messy hairball,it all depends on Henri's mood swings you see.On other boards we're used to that, here it might be a novelty.
a bit of topic admittedly, but thank goodness for members such as Henri, who tend to keep threads fresh with their differing perspectives (by the by I tend to agree with Henri that Maxima's stringy hair is a messy disgrace--please give me her mom-in-law's 'do any time!), but then again I myself have not always been consistent in my view of the Dutch crown-princely couple!

I agree that he hair at times is a bit unruley but in a way I like it, it gives me a sense that she is just like everyone else (us ordinary folk). IMO, that little imperfection makes me like her that much more.

In defense of those who have had 'stringy hair'... I have lots of fine textured hair which gets stringy very easily. I am now in the habit of taking a brush everywhere I go. I imagine some of my classmates must think that I am vain. However, if I don't brush through my hair it'll become stringy and then there'd be so many knots in it...ugh.

I feel for Maxima as it seems that she has a similair problem. I love to have my hair down but it does require a bit of maintence. With her having to be in front of cameras, people, and an event to focus on I imagine brushing through her hair is the last thing she's thinking about. And you know what? If she was photographed brushing her hair I'm sure there'd be quite a few people pointing that out.

She's a beautiful woman and it'd take a lot more than stringy hair to make me think differently. Thanks to all of you who have posted pictures. :flowers:

But that is my point. She is not like us, simple souls.

She is The Princess of Orange, a proud and illustrious position which has been held by grand forebearers in the course of hundreds and hundreds of years. She, an Argentine lady, is in their footsteps and should prove she is as worth as much as a Sophie of Württemberg, as an Anne of Great Britain and Hannover or as an Amalia of Solms-Braunfels.

I have often said: there are probably no any spouses to a royal Heir who have so much means at their disposal, as the spouses to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and His Royal Highness The Prince of Orange!

She simply does not show it, and there is no excuse for that. It is amazing how she manages it to have só much money and still appear in johnnie-and-anita tigerprint, have a hairdo which would not have been acceptable for a KLM-stewardess and manages it to have an overall clumsy look.

She is The Princess of Orange! She should be the epitome of style and grace!

I do not think either Anna Pavlovna or Sophie of Wurttemberg were the epithomy of style and grace either :) Not to mention poor Mary Stuart (II), to which nature hadn't been very kind.

We can start another discussion about wether or not Maxima is the Princess of Orange (both the state as the court do not name her such), but that doesn't add anything to the discussion.

I hope I don't offend anyone but in my opinion the princesses are women like me they have fat days pregnancy sickness and the like. I don't see them as being better than me just as good as me. If it is about their job than shouldn't they be talked about for what they do not what they wear or their hair. It seems to me their work should be the most important criteria. Then I guess the next question should be If we stopped looking at how they look would anyone actually care ?

I agree with Seto.
But looks are important with the role you have as a crownprincess. But I think Maxima does a great job with that. Maybe she could do something with her hair.. But still she looks good and classy enough for a princess.

Goosh Henri!
Are you fetishist on hairspray or what?! :ROFLMAO: I think you are obsessed by Maxima's "fault", when strong wind has destroyed her hair. She has long hair... I have long hair and I know from my personal experience, that when you have TONS and TONS of hairspray or anything else on your hair, wind won't move with it (maybe hurrican only) but it would look terrible.
I think Maxima don't want look like Elvis Presley.

And also info about tigerprint- it's again modern to have something like this in you warderobe. And also her dress wasn't that bad- print was very soft and elegant.

Blowing in the wind?

This was Máxima inside the Pathé Tuschinski Cinema in Amsterdam, earlier this week:

My dear fellow posters. I stand corrected by you all, but I find all these pictures a disgrace. In my humble opinion a Princess from the old and ancient and illustrious House of Orange-Nassau should radiate dignity, elegance, class. Not this....

Henri, what's wrong with her hair?
I thought is great to have hairstyle like she has, it also matches to her.
Or my fashion style definitely crashed doown and I don't know what is modern

Of course Máxima was not the one disaster after the other. She has stunned us and did pride to her status, like these:

Wonderful....

Altesse Royale....

Even on horseback she looks so elegant....

So, in short: dear Máxima, return to your class, style and elegance you have made us ooh and aah so often!

I MUST agree with you, she looks in these pictures stunning. But after all, this is art of hairdresser and of hours spent in front of mirror. And it looks little uncomfortable too.
She looks great with hairdo.
But she looks good with normal hair. It's not catastrophe! :flowers:

BTW what does "johnny and anita" mean, is it a dutch saying?:flowers:
'Johnny and Anita' is a song by some Dutch band, somewhere the mid 90's. They sang about an sleazy couple who went everywhere on a scooter and looked just hideous. Tiger prints, leather pants, a lot of golden necklaces, rings etc. I think you know what I mean. I don't like this kind of stereo types and I just find it plain ridiculous that 'Johnny and Anita' are used to refer to Maxima. I rather have her having her hair up, but this discussion is becoming so surrealistic that I'm at a point I would even defend her if she had hair like this: http://ng.netgate.net/~mette/hair/hair10.JPG And to be honest: I don't think I'm alone with that opinion. If you ask me Warren got to the core with his last post and explained why this thread (that is going round in circles) has been so immensely popular for quite a while now. :innocent:
