I'm guessing you're talking about these pictures from the Iraq Commemoration Service at St. Paul's Cathedral on Oct. 9, 2009.

She looks ok, but the top part of the dress looks awkward to me.

I'm loving these shoes. So unexpected from Sophie who is usually quite traditional IMO. Good for her!!

Fantastic shoes, and I like the overall outfit, including the hat. Sophie needs a better tailor/seamstress for fitting her clothes better. CP Letizia sets a good example in that department IMO. No matter what she (L) is wearing, it fits well. Sophie seems to have bulky fabric or pleating in the wrong places.

In fact the whole dress looks ill fitting and totally inappropriate for the event. Grey is definitely a colour she should avoid like the plauge because it makes her look pale, wan and just plain ill.

Overall not a good look which is surprising as she usually looks really well put together, quietly trendy and definitely chic, But this time even her hat looked sadly betrayed by the shapeless short-sleeved sack dress!

I agree MARG this is just awful too casual, too illfitting just not a good colour on her the sleeves cause the dress to fall and look quite matronly.IMO

THinks Sophie's grey dress at the Iraq memorial is ill fitting and unflattering on her

I think the shoulder seem is in a bad place on the sleeves and makes it look all wrong. I agree not her best look. The hat is nice.

The overall look could be perfect,if the top part of this dress was different.I loved the hat and the high heels,so chic!!

Yes indeed, this dress is so 'not done' and in my opinion not for her. I don't like the hat either; I saw her from a close distance when she wore it for the first time at Royal Ascot and it has to be said: it is immense; which is 'nice' for something like Ascot but not for this service of commemoration.

Lovely hat and worn well IMO, the dress has no shape to it and that is how it is designed, it is suppose to look like that. I find it boring and maybe that is because its in a boring color.

Colour of the stockings? Not black, not white. A silvery grey?

Yes I would say they are a light grey.

I would say that they are a slivery-grey too!

Loved her in Ulster but the handbag at Fanny's Farm has got to go IMO. It is an oldie but it is just too "eveningyified" and out of place for such an informal occasion IMO. But she otherwise lovely.

I never realized how much I dislike Sophie's hosiery choices- they really are bad.:bang: Is there some medical condition with her legs requiring these awful shiny, spandex support hose that Im otherwise unaware of?:ermm:

HRH's hosiery reminds me very much of Diana's. Diana used to wear high gloss/sheen (?) stockings and I always just assumed they were silk or alternatively, very, very expensive...

I don't care for the grey outfit, but in the third picture the coat and her shoes look lovely!

Mmm, I think I disliked all of the above outfits. Especially that ugly brown leather jacket in the 1st pic. Too bad, she's a beautiful woman.

I don't think it's leather, rather a wax jacket favoured by those interested in country pursuits.

Would you be so kind as to explain to me what a "wax jacket" is? I know the difference between real leather and faux leather, but I have never heard of wax.
