Trooping the Colour 2003-2022

Catherine was always going to attend the Trooping.

Lumutqueen - I was referring to the number of people who declared she would not appear in a carriage, because... well you know. It made me laugh.

And thanks for the Andrew in the suit explanation. I did a quick Getty search and he does tend to wear that tan waistcoat to Trooping. There are also some fun old pics of Edward sans uniform: Search - Getty Images UK: prince andrew, duke of york trooping

Do Zara and Peter ever attend this event? If not, why not? Is it because they aren't "royals"? If and when Beatrice and Eugenie marry, will their spouses and children be welcome to attend?

In the past neither Edward or Andrew wore uniform, but the London Regiment is a TA regiment belonging to the Guards Division (since reorganisation in 2004).

Edward became Royal Honorary Col of the London Regiment in 2011. He is allowed to wear the uniform on this occasion because it is part of the Guards Division.

Andrew has no links to the Guards Division.

I believe Zara is in Germany competing and Peter is working, someone mentioned it in another thread, maybe Cepe. They've attended before on the balcony numerous times.

I was wondering if James would attend this year's Trooping the Colour and I'm pleased that he did. He's very cute. I was surprised not to see Lady Helen Taylor and her children on the balcony as they usually attend. It was quite rainy at about 1:10 where I am, I hope the weather didn't affect Trooping the Colour!

How cute that Sophie and Louise are wearing the same color and similar style coat.

Lady Helen was on the Balcony - she was there in the first appearance whilst the Queen was taking the salute.

I also think it is funny that some people seem to feel that Kate will be hidden away for the last month of her pregnancy. I worked at my job the very day I had my son so riding in a coach and standing on a balcony should not be too strenuous, unless they felt the horses pulling the carriage might get out of control. All the horses seem very well trained so I doubt that was a concern.

Regarding the uniform vs. civvies, I thought it strange that Tim Laurence also was not in uniform since he is retired from a full military career. But if the criteria is based on what divisions are marching, then it makes sense.

And speaking of clothing, I though Sophie's outfit on the balcony closely resembled Kate's pink outfit at last years garden party. Sophie appears to have a jacket on in the carriage but on the balcony you get a better view.

Thanks; I've done a quick search on Google Images and found this photo of the royal family on the balcony- I spotted Lady Helen and her children on the right.

Very nice that the Duchess of Kent gave Prince Edward a kiss on the balcony.

My guess would be Miss Zenouska Mowatt.

THe Duke of Kent would have been present anyway. It is a great compromise seeing that he has been advised not to ride following his stroke earlier this year.

Is it because he was advised no to ride or that the Queen would have to ride alone without him this time, as the DoE is in hospital?

As for "old" Eddie, he is younger that the Queen ;)

It's true she is older than him but a person's health in every age depends on individual condition. Thus, the 9-years younger Duke of Kent can actually be much older than the Queen.

Can you post a proper link of that situation here? I can't find it on the photos all around the Web...

.

I'm confused by your question,

The Duke of Kent would have been at the parade today even if DOE had been there, he always is, however he had been advised not to ride due to his stroke earlier this year. Wbenson mentioned that he would have attended in a carriage.

With the DOE out of action it made sense for DOK to accompany The Queen.

I didn't see Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor. Probably Sophie didn't come because of pregnancy.

Actually you asked who is behind Lord Nicholas and directly behind is a Lady in blue who isn't Zenouska. The gentleman behind the blue dressed Lady is perhaps Zenouska's brother Christian.

Zenouska tweeted a picture of herself;
https://twitter.com/Zenouska/status/345918678493184001/photo/1

So Zenouska is behind Nicholas on the right.

Man behind Lord Nicholas is George Gilman, husband of Lady Rose Gilman. The lady in blue is the Countess of Ulster, standing next to her husband, the Earl.

Did anyone watch the coverage on BBC? While the crowds were walking down they showed a nice little piece put together about royal babies. They showed the queens children, grandchildren and then moved onto the great grandchildren from Peter Phillips. They showed Peter and Autumn first with Savannah out looking at the horses then a still black and white image of them with one of their daughters christening. I couldn't tell if it was Isla or Savannah. What did everyone think?

As long as the Duke of Edinburgh rode on horseback the Queen was always alone in the carriage so this can not have been the reason.

They are in the US - where the baby will be born.

I saw it and I really liked the Phillips's photos. I wish they would've released the official photos.

I'm sure I've missed something. Where are the Gloucestors?
