Trooping the Colour 2003-2022

I think it was a lovely move to make Louise and James appear at the balcony: it is as though they replaced their parents today...

I knew Prince George would enjoy his first balcony appearance and he was very interested in pointing out things to his mum and dad. I get the sense George knows who he is and he waves like he know that he's a prince.

The Queen and Prince Philip really looked after James and Louise.

Well...So much for a certain Wedding in Sweden, as the appearance of Four Generations on the Balcony just became the big Royal News of the day. :D

He certainly took it in his stride didn't he? And I loved how Her Majesty was escorted out by her Grandson. Goodness James certainly looks like Edward now.

I need a nap before the festivities get going in Sweden, but I'll be back a bit later on. :)

sleep over at Grannie's

Wonder if with Earl and countess of Wessex o'seas if the youngsters are having a sleep over W/Grannie!

It was a beautiful day. Now off to the Swedish royal wedding coverage.

Loved seeing George on the balcony. I read on twitter that his little outfit was an heirloom. It was previously worn by Prince William on his first balcony appearance in 1984.

I love that James walked out with the Queen and Philip and he is such a good mixture of Edward and Sophie. He looked so grown up in his suit.

Any pics out yet of the balcony etc?

Who rode in the carriages behind Kate and Camilla.

I am so pleased Louise and James are there without their parents. James' suit is so cute.

And the appearance puts paid to all our speculation about his wiggle worm tendencies being a caution. Lets hope for him to be at church next Christmas at Sandringham!

He and Louise are so well mannered. I imagine mom and dad getting ready for the wedding and watching the live stream at the same time. They must be so proud!

The York's in second carriage and The Duke & Duchess of Gloucester and Duke of Kent in third carriage.

I think! Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie and Beatrice were behind and they were followed by Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Duke of Kent.

They are both very well behaved in public and it's a credit to Edward and Sophie. I am sure this year will be his Sandringham debut as Louise was 8 (although she is 12 this year, makes me feel so old!) when she went and James turns 8 this December. He needs to get some wear out of that handsome suit he has! There was a sweet moment where the Queen wasn't watching and James reminded his Granny that the planes were coming by pointing them out.

Wow, George was so interested, pointing everything out and telling William all about it. He made sure to wave to the crowd and seemed it take it all very much in-stride.

Did I also notice a curl or two in his hair?

Theblue outfit was originally worn by Charles.

That's really neat...that all 3 have worn that outfit.

I love that it is a family heirloom outfit. Little george seems to be at least as photogenic as his late grandmother.

When the door first opened it seemed like the Queen was holding James' hand and motioned for him to head out. He seemed to hold back so she led the way and he quickly followed!

I'd like to see video of the Queen coming out onto the balcony with James. Is there any yet?

Well what it is all about, the Trooping the Colour, as the title of the forum already states:

The massed bands, the Escort to the Colour, the mounted band of the Household Cavalry, the Life Guards, the Blues and Royals- as well as the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery: faultless and into perfection.

The foot guards: the men did their best but the detachments they formed were not equal in distance and the outline could be better. Especially the slow march past showed room for interpretation. Luckily the quick march past went much better.

The officers are -as often- the ones to be critical about. The Drum Majors can display a superb choreography but... the five officers were often not in line and not synchrone in their movements. There is room for improvement. The Ensign did a great job. The officer leading the King's Troop was very martial ans showy, I liked his "performance".

The Queen - nice as usual, the colour was lovely, the texture was very rich, worth a Queen
The Duchess of Cornwall- too pity she did not show a new hat but the diamond-and-emerald Prince of Wales' Feathers brooch was a nice sparkler
The Duchess of Cambridge - not so hallelujah on the outfit but what a radiant appearance
The Princesses of York - great dresses, I hope they will once ditch the litte headgear and go for real hats, preferrably with the hairs up. They are two beauties however.

A good day, today. Even the weather was better than expected.

I think he was waiting for the Queen to go first. When he was on the balcony you can see him say, "There's lots of people."

I loved how The Queen and Philip had James in the centre with Louise. That was a nice touch from granny. She knows that the press and public will be all about George but she very subtly gave her support to her youngest grandchild on his first appearance on the balcony by having him in the centre of things.

Of all the titles HM bares I suspect that one that she loves as much as any is Duchess of Edinburgh and she led the future Duke out onto the balcony with the current Duke for the first time.

I can't believe how old Xan Windsor is! He was in front of his parents in a suit like James. I can't believe how old is! I forget he's a bit older than James. I can't over what Albert Windsor was wearing....

They appear at 11.15.

Omgg! George turns to his dad and then points out at the crowd and waves! What a sweet adorable boy.
