This will come as a surprise to no one but it highlights just how disgusting British tabloid 'journalism' really is.

It tells the time when William and Catherine took a holiday without Prince George. The Daily Mail ran a story about how Twitter and even Mumsnet readers were outraged W&K had left George at home.

But, Mumsnet only linked to the story after it was contacted by the DM to do so and Mumsnet readers weren't outraged. When Munsnet protested the story wasn't accurate, the DM removed it from online.

Little wonder all the BRF, not just W&K keep the press at arms length

I don't have any words for this:
David Icke attracts ridicule after saying the Royal Family are shape-shifting lizards live on TV – Royal Central
Writer and conspiracy theorist, David Icke, raised eyebrows this week, after saying that the Royal Family are shape-shifting lizards live on national television.

Speaking on the BBC political show, This Week, Mr Icke came head to head with presenter, Andrew Neil, over his rather bizarre beliefs.

When Mr Neil asked whether he thought the Royal Family were shape-shifting lizards, the Mr Icke said: “Yes I do.”

Mr Neil responded: “If you also think that Buckingham Palace is inhabited by lizards, it kind of undermines you.”

Icke denied this though, saying: “If you deliver it in one line, the world’s run by reptiles, you go ‘that’s crazy’ – immediate reflex action,” he said.

“But when you see the back story and the evidence to support this, ancient modern, you see that throwaway line in a completely different context.”

Mr Icke is a believer of a conspiracy theory that 13 historical families, including the royals, were shape-shifters who run the world’s finances, politics, and religion.

Before he became known for his beliefs, David Icke was a household name as a presenter of the BBC’s flagship sports show Grandstand. He later caused public hysteria in 1991 when he said he was the “Son of the Godhead”.

Whilst he was on the show, Mr Icke was also asked whether he believed 9/11 was an inside job.

He replied: “Of course it was. There is a network that works through government agencies, through organisations like the CIA, to push an agenda on the world which is unfolding by the day.”

Even more concerning is that there are people who believe this guy.

He is also behind the kidnapped Canadian children allegations against the Queen and Philip and a range of other conspiracies.

Basically he needs some help but ...

He lost because it was the Mail reporting the OK magazine story not the Mail directly saying it. That's what I got from reading the press gazette article.

I must say that best journo pic goes to @emynash there have been some shockers but this is great!

@royalfocus1 Very kind Rookie - I know it's not ideal that a hack got it ;)

@emynash It's a great pic but just shows what contempt they hold photographers in that they let all the royal correspondents in and no togs!

Interesting. I like to post comments like this from twitter because when William supposedly 'bans' photographers, it starts third world war.

Last year at Ascot, Palmer said Harry tried to prevent photographers from taking pictures and said he is every bit as bad as William.

Now here at the flower show, where the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were attending, a photographer said they let in royal reporters but not photographers. Obviously there were some there but Rookie wasn't happy with the arrangements.

William is no different from anyone else in the BRF when it comes to press relations but it seems like he gets all the guff for it.

If this was a William and Catherine event and photographers were limited in what they could photograph, reporters would be on Twitter lighting up a storm.

From British Monarchy website -

Members of the media wishing to attend Royal visits and events in the UK should contact Royal Communications.

Most Royal engagements in the UK operate under a Royal Rota System; a group of stills photographers, broadcast media and print journalists affiliated to the following organisations:

News Media Association (NMA)

Wire Picture Agency (WPA)

Council of Photographic News Agencies Limited (CPNA)

Independent Photographers Association (IPA)

UK Broadcast (BBC, Sky news and ITN)

It's actually a department within BP that handles media requests.

Welcome to the forums!

I think I could safely say that, as whole, the British royals are almost as popular here in the US as they are anywhere else. There has been massive interest in following the younger royals as a lot of their endeavors reach across "the pond" and benefit American causes too like the Invictus games and William's work with United for Wildlife which is a global cooperative movement.

Then again, who can resist Prince "Cheeks" George?? :D

Hi, BoySetsFire. Welcome to the Forums. I suppose people can tell I'm generally not a fan of Kate's either, though George and Charlotte are little cuties. Do US magazines sell a lot when Kate is on the cover? People magazine does seem to feature her a fair bit.

Wish I could help you out with an answer from the US point of view but in actuality, I've not really bought or followed any magazine in over two decades here.

I do, however, get a news feed through AOL and Huffington Post and they seem to always include coverage of the Cambridges along with quite a few other British royals.

^^^ That's cool! I had not expected a tweet straight from Her Majesty! ;-)

That is so sweet and I'm sure all those who sent the Queen their best wishes on her birthday appreciated it.

Very nice :)
And for once there was a comment to the Daily Mail article (they featured this story too) which made me LOL, someone said "let P.Philip have that tablet for a day, that could be pure gold"
i can just imagine tweeting away in true Philip style

A BBC Radio 4 show broadcast on the Queen's 90th birthday that included jokes about her sex life was in "serious breach" of editorial guidelines, the BBC Trust has ruled.

The episode of Don't Make Me Laugh, which sees comedians discuss topics without causing the audience to chuckle, went out on 21 April.

It included the subject "The Queen must have had sex at least four times."
The BBC received over 100 complaints and apologised the following day.

One can understand the rules, but that kind of talk is expected from comedians.

This isn't about the royals per se, but it gives a good read on the workings of the British tabloid press.

It's a piece by Stig Abell. For those not familiar with the name, he's the former head of the press complaints commission and former Editor of The Sun tabloid.

He was responsible for putting the Queen's 'Nazi salute' on the front page.

He doesn't paint a rosy picture. The future of newspaper is on a knife's edge. Subscriptions are way down and the demographic reading newspapers is a lot older than what people may think.

He describes the Daily Mail - as focusing its marketing efforts on the over 65s, hoping to make a life preserver out of the rising life expectancy of its majority female readership — a following largely inspired by its deliberate, offhand meanness, specializing in articles written by women for women who hate women.

Richard Palmer's Daily Express - a once a serious paper, is no more than an incontinent shriek of made-up facts about health and immigration.

The Daily Mirror - a left-leaning tabloid, was once a prominent socialist voice, selling more than three million copies. Circulation is now well below one million, heralding a downward spiral of staff cuts, reliance on news-agency copy and articles siphoned from social media, and an enfeebled voice.

You get the picture. It's an interesting read from a newspaper man about the bleak future of newspaper.

The Duchess of Cambridge has had breach of privacy complaints upheld by the press standards watchdog after she objected to online stories about herself and Prince George.

Kate complained to the Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) after Express.co.uk and OK! magazine's website published similar articles, with a photograph in May showing George sitting on a police motorbike at Kensington Palace to the delight of his mother.

... It said: "The committee acknowledged that - as members of the Royal Family - the complainants are public figures; however, they were photographed standing within the grounds of their private home, in a position that was not easily visible to the photographer; they were not carrying out any official duties, and they were unaware that they were being photographed."

It did not accept that any public interest had been served by the publication of the images, which "simply showed Prince George playing on a police motorbike".

As part of the ruling, The Express had to publish the IPSO adjudication under clarifications and corrections.

The essence of the ruling is best summed up in here:

The Committee did not accept that any public interest had been served by the publication of the images, which simply showed Prince George playing on a police motorbike

Any general public interest in the activities of the Royal Family was also inadequate, particularly in the case of Prince George, given that the Code requires an exceptional public interest to over-ride the normally paramount interests of children under 16. The complaint under Clause 2 was upheld.

The first Court Circular was issued in the eighteenth century by King George III. He became annoyed by newspaper inaccuracies about the Royal Family's activities. King George III appointed the Court Newsman to prepare a definitive document to be supplied to newspapers every day.

Easily! Kate seems very popular in the US, at times I feel that nowadays the RF is more popular among a section of Americans than they are at home, at least the younger three, Will K and Harry.
