I saw nothing of the sort between Eugenie and Catherine...perhaps I was oblivious. Eugenie was just moving through the throng to resume her usual position of "lady-in-waiting" to the Queen on Christmas Day to gather her flowers.
There's a lovely video on GettyImages of Eugenie doing this, along with Lady Louise and Beatrice. There is also a moment where Zara helps out too. Royal grand-daugthers getting involved. Christmas Flower Gathering - GettyImages

Thank you for the video . The children were so well-behaved while waiting, and there were so many adults/helpers to make the process easier. Eugenie and Beatrice didn't even have all that much time to interact with Catherine, because they were helping their 'Granny' gather all the flowers and whatnot. Don't know where anyone gets the assumption that someone doesn't get along with someone else after watching a clip that has no dialogue or anything. Good grief.

Thank you for the extended video. I liked the involvement of the younger royals helping the Queen deal with the flowers. They came to give her their assistance which showed the respect and good manners due not just for her position, but for an older person requiring some helping hands as well.

This site has some pictures of Catherine and Prince Harry watching William play football on Christmas Eve. The pictures are kind of blurry.

In the video, Eugenie saw some cards that had been dropped by one of the officers taking away the bouquets. She went over to pick them up to make sure they got to the right place.

I also noticed that everyone took turns with helping. In the last footage posted, Autumn and Zara helped too. I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed, but Her Majesty appears to not alternate her feet when walking down the stairs. Her age is catching up with her, but very subtly. I think it would have been nice if someone gave her a hand when she was walking down those steps, then of course she may feel that she can handle that bit on her own.

Yes, I also noticed how gingerly HM proceeded down the stairs, not surprising given her age. I don't think she would have wanted anyone to help her with that just yet, though!

Remember that she had to give up riding because she was having knee issues? I would think that's giving her some trouble on the steps too.

I knew I saw that hat before! One of the nicest casual appearances by Kate post-wedding, and it's sweet to see Harry escorting her.

I've seen a couple of pictures of the royal family going to church Christmas morning. In each one, Sophie accompanied the Queen in the car, while Prince Phillip walked with the family in the older picture and was of course absent in 2011. I was surprised that one of the Queen's children didn't accompany their mother instead of a daughter-in-law.

Sophie has accompanied the Queen in the car at Christmas (and often Easter) since she had an ectopic pregnancy in December 2001. The Queen and Sophie get along very well, they are extremely close. I believe the Queen chooses who rides in the car with her, and perhaps her children prefer to walk. People are often surprised by Sophie's presence in the car with the Queen, but I think it's rather endearing and shows the closeness between the two. Even in situations not relating to Christmas, Sophie accompanies the Queen in the car. In the show "Monarchy: The Royal Family At Work", there was an extra clip of Sophie getting out of the car with the Queen at Balmoral after attending a church service. They are good friends, and the Queen is quite a fan of Sophie, namely because how happy she made Edward.
I think perhaps Anne prefers to walk to church at Christmas with the family, but I doubt we'll ever really know.

The Queen misses morning church service at Norfolk’s Sandringham estate for the first time
Quote:
The Queen broke with tradition and failed to arrive at Sandringham Church this morning. A disappointed crowd was told just ten minutes before the 11am start that the Queen would not be making the journey from Sandringham House for the service. She has not missed a Sunday morning in church during her stay on the Norfolk estate over the festive season, but no reason was given for her non-appearance.
Prince Philip was joined by Prince Edward, the Countess of Wessex and their daughter Lady Louise while Prince Andrew with his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie also walked to the church with the family. But there was no sign of the Queen and the royal party made no mention of her absence as they arrived and left the church.
Royal watcher Mary Relph, 78, of Shouldham Thorpe, said that she had waited outside the church to spot the Queen every time the monarch has attended a service since 1988. “I don’t remember her ever missing it,” she said. I remember her going around the back once. I am disappointed but I hope she is OK.”
|
Like Mary Relph, I do hope everything is all right with Her Majesty.
