Catholics are allowed to be Masons - many of my masonic friends are Catholics. That is the sort of furphy put out by some RCs who were blackballed in the past and put the blame on being RC rather than on other factors - and it has stuck.

My great-uncle had a full requiem mass in Sydney's St Mary's cathedral including a full masonic funeral service with no problems.

I grew up in a masonic family and being a member of an associated female order I speak from experience and personal knowledge - as a child one of the most prominent masons in my father's lodge was the local RC priest.

HRH The Duke of Kent was in Dublin today where he paid tribute to Irish soldiers who died in both world wars.The Duke also laid a wreath honouring the 1916 Easter Rising Dead and paid a visit to the tomb of the Irish political leader,Daniel O'Connell.

They aren't legally separated. They still live in the same house and attend Royal gatherings as a couple.
