The Duke of Gloucester unveiled the National Memorial to the Evacuation in support of the British Evacuees Association at the National Memorial Arboret yesterday, July 25:

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the new building at Downlands Community School, Dale Avenue, Hassocks, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex (Mrs Susan Pyper).

His Royal Highness this afternoon unveiled the Art Trail Project in Burgess Hill, followed by a Reception at Burgess Hill Town Council, 96 Church Walk, Burgess Hill, and was received by Mr Harry Goring (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Sussex).

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards presented The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade and Innovation to Servecorp Aviation Security, Gatwick Gate, Charlwood Road, Lowfield Heath, Crawley, West Sussex.

The Duke of Gloucester, Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Masons, this evening presented The Duke of Gloucester Awards in the Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, London EC1.


His Royal Highness, Patron, Construction Youth Trust, this evening attended a Reception at 20 Grosvenor Street, London W1.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the new Anthony Best Dynamics Limited Factory, Middleton Drive, Bradford on Avon, and was received by Lieutenant-General Sir Roderick Cordy-Simpson (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Tithe Barn, Pound Lane, Bradford on Avon, and was received by Mr Robert Floyd (Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire).

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon visited Holy Trinity Church, Church Street, Bradford on Avon.

His Royal Highness later visited Great Chalfield Manor, Atworth, Melksham, Wiltshire.

The Duke of Gloucester subsequently presented The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade to Glentham Life Science Limited, Unit 5, Ingoldmells Court, Edinburgh Way, Corsham, Wiltshire.

Today, October 24, the Duke of Gloucester was in Stromness to visit the Lifeboat Station, the Museum, the Warehouse Building and the Hall of Clestrain. He also visited St Magnus Church in Birsay and attended a Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Earl Magnus at St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall:

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited Kirkwall Airport to mark the Fiftieth Anniversary of Loganair Orkney Inter-Isles Air Services and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Orkney (Mr. William Spence).

His Royal Highness afterwards travelled by Loganair Orkney Inter-Isles Air Services to Westray and Papa Westray, Orkney.

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, the Royal Pioneer Corps Association, this morning received Brigadier Charles Telfer upon relinquishing his appointment as President and Colonel Alexander Barnes upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and assuming his appointment as President. Colonel David Clouston was received upon assuming his appointment as Chairman.

His Royal Highness, President, Greenwich Foundation, this afternoon received Mr. Brendan McCarthy upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive Officer and Ms. Angela McConville upon assuming the appointment.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon opened the extension of the Somme Nursing Home, 121 Circular Road, Belfast, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast (Mrs. Fionnuala Jay-O'Boyle).

His Royal Highness later visited Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, and was received by Colonel Mark Campbell (Deputy Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast).

The Duke of Gloucester this evening attended the Festival of Remembrance Service at Waterfront Hall, 2 Lanyon Place, Belfast.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present this evening at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also present.
