Are these the royals that give Jewelery as gifts? If they are Camilla could use a beautiful Parure. ;)
Any word where the banquet will be BP or Windsor? :flowers:

If they're staying at Windsor, I would imagine at Windsor.

Expect a fair amount of bling on display.

Not that we are greedy or anything, but that would be very nice!

Queen rolls out red carpet for emir of Qatar's state visit | UK news | The Guardian

It is a sign of special favour when the Queen hosts VIP guests in her beloved Windsor Castle rather than over the shop at Buckingham Palace, or so it is whispered. So there is delight in the entourage of the emir of Qatar, starting a state visit to Britain tomorrow, that he is staying in the royal borough rather than central London.

Thanks for the photos!
It is surprising that Emir of Qatar and his wife are not greeted by a member of the British royal family. I am looking forward to seeing Sheikha Mozah wearing a couture gown and impressive jewellery.

They probably weren't met by anyone because the Official Visit starts tommorow, which I cannot wait for.
Hope we don't see any green. ;)

Programme so far

* Dine in St George’s Hall - Speeches will be made by the Queen & the Emir
* Olympic Park to view preparations for the 2012 Olympic Games in London
* Westminster Palace - the Houses of Parliament
* Emir visits Buckingham Palace to meet with business officials and the Duke of York, Prince Andrew
* Prime Minister David Cameron will welcome the Emir to Downing Street
* Emir and Sheikha Mozah will also be shown around Westminster Abbey by the Dean of Westminster
* Dinner banquet given by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at the Guildhall, dine with the Lord Mayor of London - The Emir is likely to give another speech.

Thursday
* Emir and Sheikha Mozah will bid farewell to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle
* Visit to Royal Military Academy

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani is greeted by Queen Elizabeth II on October 26, 2010 in Windsor, England. The Sheikh is on a two day State visit to the UK, the first since his last in 1985, which is seen as important in strengthening already strongly established business links with one of the Gulf States most financially powerful nations.

The visit to the Royal Military Academy would be a perfect event for the Princes to attend.

Here is a little glimpse of Camilla, can't really tell though.

Hum it's me or the DOC is not wearing the Honeycomb for once? Now that's interesting! Looks like the Cubit tiara but it's not clear. Hope for more!

The Sheikha is beautiful. I always wonder what their personalities are like. I know she has fabulous jewels, but she doesn't need them at all!!

WOAH! Sheika isn't jeweled up but looks gorgeous and the Queen is sportin a new look with this necklace. I'm not sure how I feel about the necklace, have we seen it before?

IIRC, HM wore this necklace at the Windsor banquet for King Olav on his last state visit to the UK. She wore it again on an African state visit early in the 2000s before attending the CHOGM.

ETA: Close! Actually it was the 1999 State Visit to South Africa:

Assuming they aren't training (Harry) or on duty (William). When they leave the army then these are the things they can do but not if it means missing training or duty.

The Duke of Kent and Prince Michael also graduated from Sandhurst so maybe it is a perfect occasion for one of them and not interfere with their current duties in the military.

Did Sheikha Mozah receive her DBE before this trip, or is it new?

I might be mistaken, but I think the Queen's necklace was from a previous visit either from or to the Qatari royals.

Thanks for the photos!
Her Majesty looked all right. I am slightly disappointed with Sheikha Mozah's dress, which appears to be overly stiff. I wish she wore one of the Stephane Rolland's flowy creations. The strong red colour suited her well and the ensemble was well-tailored.

HM wore the six row pearl necklace with matching earrings a gift from the Emir of Qatar on her 1979 visit. source Leslie Field's book page 68. The necklace has diamond plaques holding 2 rows together at uneven intervals. Also worn to West germany in 1986.
