Royal Engagements 2015

Weekly update to 7th January 2015

The start of a New Year and in the first week there were three engagements: The Queen presented a prize after church at Sandringham (she does that annually and to different groups etc), Anne attended a conference (again something she does at this time every year) and Edward held a Meeting.

All figures below are for 2015 only. I have added the percentage by each royal as some people see that figure and have a greater appreciation for the contribution of that royal to the work load by seeing it as a percentage rather than as a total number of engagements or as a ‘rank’. The weekly increase will be added next week.

HM The Queen - 1 (1 – 33%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH The Prince of Wales – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH The Duke of Cambridge - 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Duchess of Cambridge – 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH Prince Henry of Wales - 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Duke of York – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH Princess Beatrice of York – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH Princess Eugenie of York – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Earl of Wessex - 1 (1 – 33%)
HRH The Countess of Wessex - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH The Princess Royal - 1 (1 – 33%)
Vice-Admiral Tim Laurence - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH The Duke of Gloucester - 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Duchess of Gloucester - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH The Duke of Kent – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH The Duchess of Kent - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)
HRH Prince Michael of Kent – 0 (0 – 0%)
HRH Princess Michael of Kent - 0 (0 – 0% - accompanied - 0)

Obviously these will see different numbers as the weeks go by. This list was developed from the ‘other events’ and ‘other sports’ from last year. They are still there, of course, but this will give a greater range of the types of engagements that the royals undertake.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

This post each week will record the days in which the British monarchy hasn't updated and Cepe has been able to assist me by providing the information from The Times. If the website updates at a later date I will remove that date. I do believe that they should be accountable and with a public, weekly posting maybe they might get their act together and do it properly.

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 17th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd January for a total of 46 engagements.

Still missing: 10th and 13th January, for a total of 5 engagements.

Yearly total of missing days and engagements: 7 days on which 51 engagements were carried out.

The CC has her with four:

1 on the 15th - visited Art Room
1 on the 16th - visited Fostering Network
2 on the 19th - visited Family Friends and Opened the Academy

The other thing to remember is that there are times when an event isn't listed in the CC so what may appear on the surface as an 'official engagement' actually isn't one but just something the royal did that gained media coverage.

The British monarchy website has the ones on the 15th and 16th and Cepe provided me the information for the 19th.

I don't count the 'was received by the Lord LT etc' as an engagement and that was recorded in the CC for one of the engagements on the 19th.

Wow the BRF website is very poorly run if they're already missing so many in the first month of the year.

There were 3 engagements on the Monday - Family Friends, the Academy and then a Leisure Centre where she got the yellow duck rubber ring for George. the CC just ran them together in print, rather than on separate lines as usual. I had to read it twice.

also which event on the 19th just said met LL cos I might have cut and pasted incorrectly.

Iluvbertie - Found the engagements mentioned above and It is where I cut and pasted I think.

19th January for Duchess of Cambridge as follows:

Kensington Palace
19th January, 2015
The Duchess of Cambridge this morning visited Family Friends, 73 St Charles Square, London W10.

Her Royal Highness later officially opened Kensington Aldridge Academy and

Kensington Leisure Centre, 1 Silchester Road, London W10, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

I just tweeted @BritishMonarchy could you please provide a correct CC event count for Jan 10 and 13. Not on Royal.gov.

It could possibly be worded better, but, if anyone is inclined to tweet for missing info, maybe a number of voices will get noticed. And If we do it on a regular basis maybe even more so. Or they could just ignore us. But social media gets noticed in a way that blocked phone calls do not.

I've done this as well - but they need a lot of people to do it.

There were 2 events over the weekend, one being Charles going to Saudi, and neither are on the website yet.

It's appalling and ultimately leads to bad publicity about some of them not doing enough.

That is one engagement though as she only 'opened' once and at one address.

I have always looked for the verbs and place.

Earlier this year for instance Anne had something that said she went to a Board Meeting of xxx and then a Meeting of xxxx. I counted that as one engagement because those two meetings were in the one line, like Kate's and in the one place according to the address. Anne even had two verbs whereas Kate only has one so one engagement with two activities in that one engagement.

There are often long lists of verbs in one engagements e.g. The Queen 'visited xxxx, toured xxxx, opened a new wing, viewed a performance, and then opened the new yyy. All in one engagement but more than one thing done. That is why, if you add up the total number of engagements in the 'type of engagements' with the engagements recorded by royal they don't match as 'type of engagement' would include all the verbs separately but it is only one overall engagement.

The school and the leisure centre are the same address but they are separate buildings next to each other. So there were probably multiple ribbons cut/plaques revealed at each building.

She opened 2 separate and separately run buildings. In the UK schools and leisure centres frequently operate next to each other but they are separate. I know this through personal experience of being involved in a similar situation.

Sorry, but this was 3 events.

Not the way it is worded as it is that she 'Opened' two separate places at the one address. Not even that she 'Opened xxxx' and then 'opened yyyy' at the same address. One verb = one event.

Royal Engagements 2015

Here's the announcement from Royal Borough of Kensington website

http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/newsroom-beta...onacademy.aspx

Plaques were unveiled at both the academy and the leisure centre. The buildings are separate and she left one to go to the other meeting a whole new set of people and seeing totally different activities. To me it seems like 2 different engagements.
