The Duchess of Gloucester just gets more and more beautiful - I love the longer hair!
Hard to believe that she is a grandmother!

The Duchess of Gloucester looks GREAT! I totally agree with pamk's statement that it is hard to believe she is a grandmother!

Yes, the older ladies of the Royal Familiy put the younger ones' to shame. What were Beatrice, Eugenie and Zara thinking?

.

Excuse me for my question, but would you dress similarly at 18-20 as you would at 60-70?
I guess not!
I am not a great fan of the young princesses dress-taste either, but they have enouhg time to develop a more elegany style...and if they won't manage....well that's their problem!
Have a nice weekend!

Many young women at 16-24 have great dress sense, it may not be something a 60-70 year old would wear or even approve of. Beatrice and Eugenie at the moment don't seem to have any of the dress sense or flair exhibited by many of the youngsters of today.

Well our Queen, wearing a very smart outfit in an attractive blue that to me is close to cornflower blue, is now a very happy horse-owner, having just won the first race at Ascot with her horse Free Agent.

No Royals other than HM and the Duke of Edinburgh in the carriages in the procession.

no less!! that's pretty cool.
love hats, love parade, hat parades what a treat. thanks for all the links. i really like princess Haya hat but my grandmother used to have drapes out the her dress fabric, busy prints not the best choice for most women. newlyweds looked nice and glowing. the queen is always flawless.

Princess Anne has always been escorted by Andrew Parker Bowles at Ascot, and also, I think, at Cheltenham. In the thread on Ascot of which this is the past page, so far, he is shown as her escort, at Ascot meetings over many years.

The Queen is "thrilled" to have broken her decade-long Royal Ascot hoodoo with her first winner at the meeting since 1999.

Free Agent is Queen's first Royal Ascot winner since 1999 - Telegraph

That was wonderful to watch. HM had her 20th Royal Ascot winner and she was clearly delighted. She was beaming, kind of doing a "YES" and pulling a face in the royal box, showing emotions that she doesn't usually show. She came down to the winners enclosure (with the Duke), even touched the horse and enjoyed being presented a trophy by someone instead of the usual other way around, she presenting a trophy to someone

My husband's been a keen race-goer and horse-owner and even breeder at times, and we've spent a fair bit of time at the races, though not much now. He's often said that racing's a great leveller, and I think HM's behaviour at Ascot this week supports this view. In the lead-up to that race, HM was just another owner, and behaved like anyone else who has a horse in a race, and then whose horse has come from behind to win nicely.

Funny that in the sport of Kings all owners are equal; it's the horses that rule.

Here's Anne & the Brigadier 2007 and for a bit of added interest Peter Phillips, Autumn Kelly & the Brigadier 2007. (click the refresh button if the pic doesn't appear)

All I can say is that the various members of the Royal Family, the ladies that is, except for the Queen and Camilla, (I simply could not look at all of it) look like slaughtered horses themselves. The hats are simply awful, nauseating. Ghastly. And that revolting artsy fartsy giant flowers on top of all those braindead women's heads. What on earth were these people thinking. The Queen looked wonderful, which was a saving grace. Who on earth is Jodie Sykes and whatever Waterhose???? And who on earth is Michael Owen. His grey suit and top hat looked superb. If only the princesses had not been the opposite side of the coin as far as elegance and taste is concerned. Sad to say that the horses looked so much better with nothing on than all those women with all that junk on. Lord help us, what is the world coming to. We live in an age and culture of unredeemed tasteless ugliness. Cheers (?)

OH. MY. GOD.....!! Heaven help me if anyone happens to walk by my desk and sees me laughing so hard my eyes are tearing, my makeup is running. I look like a raccoon.
And I kept reading to see if there was ONE LINE I could disagree with or debate...and I couldn't!

I totally agree! The Duchess is lovely and one beside the Queen my favourite british royal lady! She looks so youthful and the green outfit is impeccable!

I think you could have done without this comment. I think referring to someone as braindead, no matter their fashion faux pas is a little over the top, no?
