What a wonderful moment for Her Majesty! The joy she was feeling was palpable. Her smile was indeed infectious, and it was delightful to see the rest of the family rejoicing with her. Congratulations indeed.

How exciting for HM, and how wonderful to see her so happy! :D

The family deserves and needed this spectacular day. Congratulations and yay! :flowers:

2 words- happy and glorious. Love it!:D

The Queen looked wonderful and her love of horses and racing is her thing and she won. That is glorious. Her granddaughters need a stylist. The rest is moot.

...People's say that The Queen never smiles and is a total stiff all the time...
Not smile! They're crazy! The Queen has the most beautiful joyous lovely infectious etc etc smile EVER!

...Prince Philip once said" if it doesn't fart or eat grass, she isn't interested in it"
You've taken that quote out of context. Prince Phillip was actually talking about Princess Anne there.

(Although you are quite right that the Queen is genuinely devoted to her horses)

Just saw some footage of the Queen watching the final stages of the Gold Cup - wonderful to see the genuine elation which is rarely captured as she is so schooled in reigning in her emotions. I'm sure the film will be one of the lasting records of her.
On another matter, am I the only one who finds the continual appearance of Beatrice and Eugenie at Royal Ascot over the last few years rather curious and dare I say excessive? Are they both incredibly interested in racing? Have they no other calls on their time?

Beatrice and Eugenie have often attended the races with their grandmother - they were amongst the only family members who attended Epsom earlier this year and Beatrice even presented a trophy on Thursday - the last one of the day I believe.

WHAT is Sophie wearing? She had done so well on Day 1 and Day 2....then she rocked up on Day 4 wearing this:

Countess of Wessex

Bonus, her father is the man behind her in the black and white striped tie!

I see Lord & Lady fellowes are in the royal procession. Of course Lady Jane Fellowes is the sister of the late Princess of Wales.

Carriage 1 - The Queen, there's another Lady and 2 gentleman unsure of their identity yet. :)
Carriage 2 - Lord Fellowes and Lady Jane Fellowes, Major General Sir Edmond Watt and Lady Watt.
Carriage 3 - Captain David Bowes-Lyon, Mrs Bowes Lyon, Mr and Mrs Joey Newton
Carriage 4 - Mr & Mrs Charles Butter and Mr and Mrs Harry McAlmott

Apparently they had "the most amazing evening last night" in celebration.

The Queen is in blue and white, I recognise to woman with The Queen but I still don't know who she is.

Do you have a photo of said lady? I missed the procession so haven't seen her, but like you I may know who she is.

Unfortunately not, I missed Carriage 1 and turned on at Carriage 2 onwards.

EDIT: I knew I knew who this lady was!

In Carriage 1 we have The Queen, Prince El Hassan bin Talal, Princess Sarvath El Hassan and The Duke of Argyll.

Jordanian Royals!

Another edit: Queen Elizabeth II Pictures - Royal Ascot - Day Four - Zimbio

Doesn't the Princess' fascinator look a bit small to pass the fashion police for the royal enclosure?

Princess Michael of Kent is at Day Four as well along with Sheikh Mohammed and Princess Haya.

Sheikh Mohammed's posse of protection is enormous!

Even if she is wearing what we may consider a questionable headpiece, I think that given the fact she sat next to the Queen for the carriage ride, we won't see the fashion police come and escort her out of the royal enclosure. I think her interpretation of the rules was acceptable and I am going to guess that the Queen doesn't have a problem with it either.

HRH Princess Sarvath El Hassan
Wife of Prince Hassan, formerly the Crown Prince of Jordan.
Rode in the carriage procession, seated next to HM.
Thumbnail image has been cropped from a much larger photograph.

I suspect anyone who arrives in the Queen's carriage is going to be admitted to the Royal Enclosure.

Thomas Chippendale, a horse, has just collapsed after the finish line as he won. They think he has had a heart attack. That is so sad.

Oh, that is sad. Did he passaway?
