Yes, today is the last day of Royal Ascot 2011.
Her Majesty is in blue & Green riding with the Duke of Devonshire and Sir Henry Cecil in the first carriage.

Princess Eugenie is also there wearing a beautiful red dress. Just saw her presenting the prize for the recent race. I love her dress, a lot. The colour is stunning.

And once again we have a fashion disaster! Does this young lady never do anything with her hair? Really silly hat and dress much, much to tight. Siiiigh, someone pleeeeze buy this girl a full length mirror.

I don't see a fashion disaster other than the dress being too tight. Its a red dress with black accessories. Whats wrong with that?

I guess, IMO, when one wears something two sizes too small that is a fashion disaster, but then that's just me. I do wonder why she doesn't do something more with her hair. It looks like she has very nice hair but just pulls a comb through it (sometimes). And to me, the hat is just silly, it's way too small for her and seems designed for a very petite girl. Again, JMO, I have to wonder with all the advantages why the Princesses do not look like knockouts all the time. Oh well .......

Well you are certainly entitled to your opinions but I think fashion diaster is a bit strong. A fashion disaster IMO is 90% of what Princesess Mabel and Laurentien of the Netherlands wear.

This is a mishap (i.e. too tight dress).

Thanks for the photos!
With each passing year the Ascot Derby seems to lose its royal glamour for me. It has an air of cheapness and vulgarity about it nowadays.

Ok Zonk, since I am not a follower of Princesess Mabel and Laurentien I'll go with your flow . I just think it's a shame that a girl who is really pretty looks so awful so much of the time.

ETA .... a "major" mishap. Heee

I think it has to do with the ticket prices. Anyone can pretty much come nowadays and they do.

Just pop over to their fashion threads (particularly Laurentien who is fantastic with her work with literacy its just her dress sense is OFF).

Again Eugenie is only 21, I seem to remember some fashion fails of Zara before she came into her own style. Black and red dress with the weird shoulder off?

Totally agree. She is a very pretty young lady, and can do much better, in many cases. If you are taller and a little more full-figured, there are certainly many styles of clothes you can wear well without looking squeezed into everything.

I was really hoping that we would get a peek of William and Catherine at Ascot. I guess it has been decided to "ration" them out so they are not over exposed, but still it would have been fun.

I really like that dress, but it is much too tight for Eugenie.
It clings to all the trouble spots.

But it's a great color for her!

It's a cute dress. One size larger would have made it fit better. She's still young & it takes time to learn how to wear clothes & to not let the clothes wear you. When I think back to some my bad fashion choices from 1990 when I was her age I just want to scream. You live & learn she will get it together in time. She has darn sure have more money to work with than I did at that age & now.

The Earl and Countess of St Andrews and their daughters were present on the balcony during Trooping the Colours.

About the hats... It is fair to say indeed that the people are really "dressing down" instead of "up". I was on the First Day of Ascot and as well at Birthday Parade. Some ladies came in at Horse Guards wearing Crock slippers... although ... i can hardly say there were ladies, they looked like farmers' wives. I hate it on State Occasions and I can't think where I can complaint about this. Are the last tickets for those occasions sold in the streets or on fairs, the same with Ascot, that they are never prepared to wear formal clothes.
