Hmm, Jody Clark's drawing is more successful than the engraving on the coin IMO. I am glad to see the George IV State Diadem back, though. Nice as the GGBNI is, nothing matches the GIV.

I love this new mint portrait! Her small smile is gorgeous and I love Britannia on the obverse. Do little girls often dress up as brittania for Halloween? They should - that helmet and shield rock.

I actually prefer this coin to the 97 version.

I think it looks like a young Queen rather than her current age.

I thought it looked a bit cartoon-ish. I don't mean to bring a laugh, but more like the molded features you see in comic books or in the prosthetics that character actors use at amusement parks. I like it - she is very voung and hopeful as depicted.

Camilla needs to wear "better" undergarments when she poses for things like that. It's not like a sitting where it might take longer. It would make for a much more attractive picture, IMO.

Damien Hirst’s first portrait of the Queen is sitting in a government archive after he secretly donated the work to the nation, The Telegraph can disclose.

The portrait – shown in public here for the first time – was given to the Government Art Collection last year after officials approach the controversial artist for a piece.

It is produced through the “spin” technique which helped make Hirst famous during his rise as a contemporary artist and fetch reach millions of pounds if sold at auction.

However until now it has not been displayed in a public gallery after the work was taken straight from Hirst’s studio into the collection.
