Thanks for posting the pictures... but, where is the Queen Elizabeth II? I didn´t find her yet in those pictures...
The Duchess of Gloucester is using turmalines jewels, right?
Normally The Gala Banquet at the Guildhall by the Lord Major alwas attended by The Gloucesters or Prince and Princess Michael on behalf of The Queen, but mostly the Gloucesters attend.

I love all of the gowns th royals wore to attend the Guildhall banquet. Mette-Marit looked particularly regal and elegant with her pale pink gown, white gloves, and tiara. The Duchess of Gloucester looked great too and I loved the colors of her jewels with her gown.

Wow what a great thread. Thanks to everyone for posting all the information and pictures.

All the royal ladies looked amazing, particularly MM, she looked gorgeous!

Mette-Marit has looked fabulous during this trip, every outfit has been spot on. The colours are feminine and the cuts and designs flatter her growing bump.

Even her hair has looked fantastic, I never hated what she wore in the past but unlike when I see Princess Mary and love what she is wearing and really study it, I would just have a quick glance at Mette-marit's wardrobe.

I am really glad she appears to be in good health.

The only negative point about the Norwegian visit to the Uk has been the terrible press coverage, I have had to rely on this and another board to give me the information and picture, pretty sad.

this gala dress of mm was definetely lovely. glad to see the daisy tiara again. it really makes her glow...
i agree on mm's choices for this trip, they were all great ones. i have the strange sensation that she uses nicer clothes when she goes out (official visits) than for events in norway. her clothes in her last visit to iceland were this style as well, and they were all great. same happened in thailand, in malawi and poland, not long ago.

I think he is truly happy being married to camilla and it shows.

At last! A decent statue in London where we can tell exactly what it is and what it represents. It's a lovely statue. Sonja looks lovely as usual.

From norway.org.uk :

The King of Norway unveiled a statue of his grandmother, British-born Queen Maud of Norway, outside the Norwegian Ambassador's residence on Thursday 27 October.

The King's speech:

"Your Majesty,
Your Royal Highness,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,

The close ties between the British and Norwegian royal families date back to Your Majesty’s grandfather King George V and his sister Maud, my grandmother.
She was born on 26 November 1869 as Princess Maud of Wales and was the daughter of the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. Princess Maud was a high-spirited child, a quality that earned her the nickname Harry. She took part in almost all the yearly family visits to Denmark, and it was during one of these visits that she met her future husband, Prince Carl of Denmark. They were married at Buckingham Palace in 1896, and in 1903 their son Alexander was born.

One hundred years ago, Norway regained full independence through the peaceful dissolution of the union with Sweden, and on 18 November 1905 Prince Carl accepted his election as King of Norway. He took the name Haakon VII and his son was given the name Olav. The young king and queen arrived in their new country with their two-year old-son in November 1905.
Queen Maud never lost her love of Britain, and she spent long periods every year at her beloved Appleton House. However, she quickly adapted to her new country and her duties as queen. She supported charitable causes, particularly those associated with children and animals, and supported musicians and artists. She learned to ski and designed an English garden at the summer residence Bygdøy Kongsgård outside Oslo. Queen Maud’s last public appearance in the United Kingdom was at the coronation of her nephew, King George VI, in May 1937 at Westminster Abbey. She died at Appleton House on 20 November 1938. Her body was returned to Norway, and she is buried in the royal mausoleum at the Castle of Akershus in Oslo. Personally, I do not have any clear memories of my grandmother as I was less than two years old when she passed away.

The ties between our two families have remained close, also after the death of Queen Maud. During World War II our two countries were close allies, and my grandfather, King Haakon VII, headed the Norwegian Government-in-exile here in London from 1940 to 1945. My grandfather often talked about his years in London and about how much this house – at 10 Palace Green – meant to him, and my father and my own family have always felt very much at home in the UK and in London.

Therefore, 10 Palace Green is a very appropriate location for this statue of Queen Maud. This is the second sculpture of my grandmother by the sculptor Ada Madsen. The first one was erected 46 years ago in the park surrounding the Royal Palace in Oslo.

Your Majesty,
I hope this statue will serve as a symbol of the close relations between our two families and of the enduring friendship between Norway and the United Kingdom.

It gives me great pleasure to unveil the statue of my grandmother, Queen Maud."

A blue plaque in commemoration of King Haakon VII, who led the Norwegian government-in-exile from 10 Palace Green between 1940 and 1945, was also unveiled.

apparently mette-marit's clothes is not black after all..

the statue of queen maud is a nice one. loved that they did it taking into account the "figure" she had when posing for portraits (after all that's the only way we have to know how they looked like!). anyone knows who designed and where it is now located?

the colours both queens wore are great colours. they really flatter them. queen elizabeth's hat is as regal and elegant as usual (no one better than the british royals for hats) and sonja's is original and looks great on her. not my favourite outfit for mette marit: i definetely think she looks better in soft, pastel and bright colours rather than this darker ones where she seems to get lost.

Some more from the gala, everyone did look perfect

A selection from UK Press

A video from the Swedish paper Expressen: WEBB-TV: Höggravid Mette-Marit i festblåsa

My boyfriend is from Finland and he can speak swedish and he told me that Anna(the reporter) saying that both Elizabeth and Sonja are dressed better than Camilla and Mette-Marit

I must say that I'm rather awed by admiration for Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the Guildhall banquet, she looked drop dead gorgeous and fabulous to be honest! Further comments are unnecessary.

The same goes for the Duchess of Gloucester, she's such an amazing lady and also looked spectacular! But I'm also one of those who wonder why she wears miniature medals with gala dresses as she tends to do, for me those medals best fits with uniform. It doesn't bother me that much, I just find it peculiar. It has sort of become "her thing" now.

A big thanks to everyone for all the pictures!

I am sure that Mette Marit will make a beautiful and glittering queen in the future like Queen Silvia of Sweden for example!!
