Apparently, Flora was wearing Princess Alexandra's Pearl Earrings, which looks brilliant on her and fits very well with her dress.

The Chapel Royal was also the place where the weddings of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Princess Victoria (eldest daughter of Queen Victoria) and Prince Frederick of Prussia, Prince George, Duke of York (later George V) and Princess Mary of Teck (Queen Mary) taken place.

Such wonderful news! If princess Alexandra was able to attend, she and her cousin the queen have lots to talk about discussing their granddaughters' Covid-impacted weddings.

Congratulations to Flora and Timothy on their joyous wedding day!

Did the queen attend?

I don't think so; after all, the bride is a distant relative to her.

Congrats to Flora and Timothy for their wedding!

Lovely photo of Flora and Timothy - they look like a happy couple.

If it had been a normal year for weddings I am sure the queen would have attended. But like Beatrice, the wedding guest list would have been extremely small due to restrictions. And I doubt even if the queen was willing to take the risk for her cousin's grandchild, that she would have made the small list.

I recently noticed the news about James Ogilvy's daughter, Flora Alexandra, getting married. I never knew anything about James' marriage and his offspring. Apparently, Flora and her brother, Alexander Charles, largely grew up in Scotland. Flora graduated from Bristol University in the U.K. (with a degree in art history), and Alexander attended Brown University (as did their Kent cousin, Lady Gabriella Windsor).

Royal Musings posted a lovely rundown on James Ogilvy and his family, in February 2020, after the November 2019 announcement of Flora's engagement to Timothy Vesterburg, of Sweden:
Royal Musings: February 2020

The summary includes cool photographs of James at various stages of growing up with his royal cousins, and of different life milestones (his wedding; his father's funeral; his daughter's engagement and wedding). It's sad about what happened to James' sister, Marina, after her rebellion and running away. It's nice that there was reconciliation and that Marina's children have been able to take part in some royal family events. Here's an archival report on the family contention at the time of Marina's pregnancy and her eventual marriage to Paul Mowatt:

Flora's dress is simple and beautifully tailored. It looks good on her. Aside from the different bodice, the simple style has some similarity to the styling of Meghan's wedding dress especially the sleeves and simple design aesthetic. Flora's dress has a better fit, whereas Meghan seemed to have lost weight and her dress was not as well-fitted around her mid-section.

In the photo of Flora in pink attending the May 2019 wedding of Gabriella Windsor, Flora looks so different. In her engagement and wedding photos, she appears to have dropped some extra weight. She is obviously blooming with happiness upon marrying. How long has she known Tim Vesterberg I wonder? He's a former professional hockey player turned financier, according to the HB article.

Wonderful post!! Enjoyed all of the information, links, photos about Princess Alexandra and her family, son James Ogilvy, his family, and daughter Flora. Seems like a very creative and caring family.

I had followed Flora's Instagram @florarteviste prior to her marriage, now @floravesterberg. In looking back the earliest I see Tim Vesterberg on her Instagram was April 5, 2019. One of her wedding announcements in Nov. 2019 indicated they had known each other for ~ a year.

:previous:

Thanks for the information. I guess that would mean Flora met Timothy sometime in late 2018 or early 2019. They look happy together.

I too was fascinated to read about James Ogilvy and his family. He and his wife seem to have crafted a lovely, active, devoted and engaged life together. Both seem to be very intelligent and well-educated, as are their two children, Flora and Alexander. It was nice to read at one point how James felt he was living the life of his dreams with his family in Scotland. The fact that he created a luxury business magazine and later sold it and trained to become a landscape designer and photographer (two of his passions) shows his enterprising nature.

Despite the royal connections, James grew up apparently understanding the importance of hard work in order to make a living since his father failed in his business endeavors and his mother, Princess Alexandra, was indebted financially to her cousin, QE-II. Of course, Alexandra also seemed very dutiful regarding the need to support the monarchy. But with her husband, Angus Ogilvy's lack of success, the family's budget was tight, and Alexandra obviously depended heavily upon her cousin, the Queen. Thereby, Alexandra's ingrained sense of duty.

In addition, Alexandra grew up witnessing the hard times her mother, Princess Marina, endured. Princess Marina was also dependent upon royal kin when her husband, Prince George of Kent (a younger son of George V), died during WWII. Marina's and George's marriage had been arranged, and it was not a happy union due to George's private troubles (drug addiction, philandering). But the two certainly were extremely attractive together:

It's cool that Prince George's and Princess Marina's grandson, James Ogilvy, apparently has an easygoing personality and a practical outlook on life. In addition, James seemed to have married for love and he has a very strong partner in his wife, Julia (whom he met while attending St. Andrews).

James Ogilvy's life and family are a good example of the importance of royal adjacent kin and upperclass Brits not being entitled layabouts, but being hardworking, well-educated citizens who contribute to their communities in meaningful and beneficial ways.

Congratulations to the couple!

What a beautiful gown.

James Ogilvy has released six landscapes in his series ‘Thin Places'. This project is launched by the London-based gallery Lumitrix in partnership with Artsy. The photographs were mostly taken along the Atlantic coast. Lumitrix has provided Tatler its brief interview exchanges with James Ogilvy.

Flora Vesterberg has posted a tribute to The Duke of Kent on his final trophy presentation at Wimbledon on Instagram.

@floravesterberg
A privilege to witness Prince Edward, Duke of Kent presenting Novak Djokovic with his trophy at Wimbledon yesterday. It was his final opportunity to do so following an impressive 52 years of service since taking over the presidency from my great-grandmother Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent in 1969. An emotional few hours not least due to the sheer determination of @matberrettini. Congratulations on your 20th Grand Slam victory @djokernole. #Wimbledon

Flora and Timothy Vesterberg were featured and interviewed in Vogue Scandinavia, detailing their intimate evening at Claridge (in London) for their Swedish guests. This was after celebrating their wedding blessing at St. James' Palace. The article is under a paywall

Thank you @voguescandinavia for a lovely feature. Following our wedding reception, we hosted our Swedish guests @claridgeshotel for a more intimate celebration. I sourced and restored a bejewelled vintage dress from the 1960s worn with bespoke @jimmychoo and @CARTIER pieces. We fell in love with the Art Deco architecture and the hand-painted @degournay wallpaper. It was very inspiring to see it being made at their London studio with @vampatrons last week. Link in bio.
