GP is General Practitioner, which translates into internist (internal medicine) in the USA.

GP in Canada means a family practice unlike the specialist who deal with certain aspects of the body.

Thank you Warren and Elspeth. We use the same term in the U.S., but I do appreciate your responses.

I know we call it the Intensive Care, or ICU, and the term in England is Theater....I hope I am correct on that, if not, please correct me.

We have Intensive Care but we also have theatre which is the operating theatre. So, if someone is critically ill, they go in intensive care. If they are having a normal op, they go into theatre.

The Countess of St.Andrews is Canadian. I think Claire is British as far as I am aware.

She was born in December 1977 so she's a couple of years younger than her husband, who was born in 1974.

December 29th, at Sheffield.

Cameron,
you should get hold of Queen Victoria's Descendants by Marlene A Eilers, Rosvall Royal Books 1997, and the Companion Volume 2004, which together are the definitive sources.

Thanks Warren for the book reference. The internet is so spotty about these things, and I'd like to finally put a definitive list of descendants of Queen Victoria on the web. I'll definately look for that book.

Default Baby names for the Earl and Countess of Ulster

I know they are not high up in the succession, but I thought it would be fun to guess the sex and name of the next little Windsor.

I think they will have a little girl; Lady Alice Windsor, after Princess Alice, the Earl's Grandmother.

If the child is a boy he will be Baron Culloden, and his names will probably include 'William' in honour of the Duke of Gloucester's late brother.

Or Henry, in honour of the Duke's late father. And don't forget Walter, a popular name in the Scott clan.

It seems that Prince Harry is not the only royal who will be serving in Iraq - the Earl of Ulster is also being deployed there.

I have to say, I don't like that news, with his wife pregnant. I know it's not just the Royals (and off-spring) who face that situation, but stil.
