Before the Queen's children and cousins started producing their own children, I think it was traditional for the Gloucesters and Kents to join the Queen for Christmas, but now the extended family is so large and the Gloucesters and Kents also have larger families, the Sandringham Christmas is just for the Queen's and Princess Margaret's own families.

I found a picture of Christmas 1985! It's dark, but if you increase brightness and contrast of your monitor you will see that it's the same colour. And the same shape, it has three buttons and so on.

Yah, it most likely the same as last year, but im sure this year it may have more focus on the new member of the Royal Family-The Duchess of Cornwall. This year 2005, most achievements must be for the Duchess who has made it-this year 2005, so fascinating.

Although I am impressed by the Duchess of Cornwall, it is HM Queen Elizabeth II herself who again and again impresses me most. She is still so active at an age where most people are long retired.

I'd agree with you, Marengo, yah through all the British Royal Family, the person to be the symbol i'd choose The Queen. The Queen has been doing really great work over these 50 years, and she is still works, works and works for England, the Commonwealth, bringing links between countries in the Commonwealth over those 50 years, most achievements must be for The Queen,i really wish Her Majesty can live more longer and longer, im sure i will be so sad if Her Majesty leave us.:(

Well, at the moment she is still going strong and she might want to compete with her mother and her aunt Alice to become the eldest ever member of the british RF.

Christmas 2005 of the British Royals

Pls. continue to post news and pictures of their 2005 Christmas at the Queen's Norfolk Estate.

Yes, yet another first for the Duchess of Cornwall. 2005 has certainly been Camilla's year. Even a relatively short time ago who would have thought it?

Wow!!!Really cool hat of the Duchess, she seems really exciting, it's the first time she attended Xmas with the Royal Family, not seeing the Queen yet...Anyone know if they have the broadcast of the Queen's Speech on CNN?

In yahoo news, the captions are saying that it's her first Sandringham Christmas "as a member of the royal family." I do seem to recall seeing Camilla attending church at Sandringham in previous years. Maybe her previous church attendances were not the Christmas Day service, though.
Are we all quite sure that Camilla has not attended the Christmas Day service before, only not as a royal obviously?

In this Corbis pic posted by Alexandria in #14, are the family going to, or leaving, the church? What gates are they passing through? Are these the gates that enclose the grounds of the church or are these the gates for the royals' private park around "the big house"? I'm just trying to grasp the lay of the land. I'm always curious about the royal estates.

Actually it's right that this is the Duchess's first Christmas as a member of the Royal Family at Sandringham and also along with the Queen and other members of The Royal Family.
I understand what did you mean by the other attendance at Church Services in Sandringham, they are all the pre-Christmas Service( i think that what they call) of the Prince of Wales himself, we have seen some pics of the Duchess attended those Services often along with King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie, and Princess Alexandra of Kent.
So it is her first Christmas Service in Sandringham that along with the Queen and other members of The Royal Family and of course as a member of the Royal Family The Duchess herself now, not her first time in Sandringham.

Who has been in the car with Her Majesty in previous years? This year it was Beatrice and Sophie, correct? Who was it last year? (I think Sophie was in the car in 2003 as well)

There has not been any new pics of the Service released yet, maybe cause this time Xmas people are still enjoying.
Though there has been some pics from EMPICS.It's great to see another time the Duchess of Cornwall joining with the Royal Family alongside with the Queen and the Royal Family, seeing the Duchess standing and receiving flowers from the well-wishers...The Queen is wearing the same outfit she wore to the Celebration of Alberta in Candada in May but with a different lovely hat. It's in light orange i think.
The Countess of Wessex in a pink outfit with a black hat(i'm not really sure because the picture was too small) but she looked happily.
Eugine again with a white/cream outfit with a dark red hat.And Beatrice with a high purple hat, i think it a little bit looks like the hat that the Countess of Wessex wore to the Prince of Wales and Camilla's Wedding.
