British Royal Family Engagements 2017

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Weekly Update to 18th May, 2017

Hopefully will get back to the regular routine this week. Sorry for the delays but other things, such as family, have had to take priority over recent days.

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing. I have read elsewhere that there were 95 engagements on these missing days - who knows they may update one day.

This week saw the first official engagements for Beatrice, Michael and Marie-Christine although I do believe that both Michael and Marie-Christine, along with Eugenie, attended a reception that is in the 'missing days' from February but without those actual entries I can't update accurately this year at all.

Year to Date Total – 1253 (1146 – up 107)

Comparison with last year – 1347-1253=96 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 96 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 14th May, 2017
It is not unusual for a single day to have no engagements.

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th February and 19th, 26th March, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th April (Easter Long weekend), 2nd May, 2017

Those in the extra large type are dates on which engagements took place but the online website hasn’t bothered putting them up.

Types of Engagements to 18th May, 2017

NOTE: If you add up the totals from this section they will invariably be more than the weekly and yearly totals because of the way engagements are described e.g. HM ‘received and invested an individual’ on the 3rd January which is why she has ONE engagement but there are two items listed here. I do NOT count ‘where received by the Lord Lt or someone else when there is more to the engagement unless it is at the start of an official visit overseas e.g. Anne was ‘received by the Deputy Lt of Oxfordshire for her engagement but that was simply a handshake before entering the conference type thing as opposed to a formal start to a tour such as we saw last year when Charles and Camilla visited the Middle East.

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 18th May, 2017 – Part A

It should be noted that the event/s involving a charity/organization may or may not be carried out by the patron, president etc. It should also be noted that sometimes an event is related to two or more charities or organisations and I have recorded all of them here. Both Camilla and Andrew attended such events during this past week.

I have changed ‘Royal Colonel’ to Honourary Military Appointment because Camilla’s engagement this week wasn’t as a ‘Royal Colonel’ but as an Honourary Appointment so I put them all together rather than split them.

Weekly Update to 25th May, 2017

This week includes the Chelsea Flower Show. I know we all saw Beatrice and Eugenie at that event but they weren’t listed as attending in the CC and so it is counted in their unofficial count rather than the official listings. I suspect that had they been there with their father they may have been in the CC, although that isn’t always the case either. I do remember a Pitch@Palace event a few weeks ago that one or other of them attended with Andrew where he was listed in the CC but the daughter, I think it was Beatrice, wasn’t listed.

Anne has spent this past week in Scotland as the Lord Lieutenant of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. This position is one that all of the Queen’s children have held at one time or another. It means that for one week during the two year period they spend time in Scotland doing engagements with many of them due to their position or in relation to that position. Tim accompanied her on many of these engagements. I have also seen mention that Tim attended the service for the Commonwealth War Graves with the Duke of Kent but he wasn’t listed for that event. He is rarely listed unless doing something with Anne. I have seen one entry where he went to a multi-family affair without Anne but that is all.

Year to Date Total – 1384 (1253 – up 131)

Comparison with last year – 1489-1384=105 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 105 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NONE

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th February and 19th, 26th March, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th April (Easter Long weekend), 2nd May, 14th May, 2017

Those in the extra large type are dates on which engagements took place but the online website hasn’t bothered putting them up.

Types of Engagements to 25th May, 2017

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 25th May, 2017 – Part A

Weekly Update to 1st June, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing. I have read elsewhere that there were 95 engagements on these missing days - who knows they may update one day.

Comparison with last year – 1575-1429=146 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 146 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 28th May, 2017

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th February and 19th, 26th March, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th April (Easter Long weekend), 2nd May, 14th May, 2017

Those in the extra large type are dates on which engagements took place but the online website hasn’t bothered putting them up.

Types of Engagements to 1st June, 2017

NOTE: If you add up the totals from this section they will invariably be more than the weekly and yearly totals because of the way engagements are described e.g. HM ‘received and invested an individual’ on the 3rd January which is why she has ONE engagement but there are two items listed here.

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 1st June, 2017 – Part A

Weekly Update to 8th June, 2017

There will be two updates today probably about six hours apart as it takes about that long to do all the work and I haven't done any of this last week yet.

HM The Queen – 105 (99 – up 6 – 7.0%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh – 65 (62 – up 3 – 4.3%)
HRH The Prince of Wales – 255 (242 – up 13 – 16.9%)
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall – 113 (108 – up 5 – 7.5%)
HRH The Duke of Cambridge – 56 (51 – up 5 – 3.7%)
HRH The Duchess of Cambridge – 40 (40 – no change – 2.6%)
HRH Prince Henry of Wales – 63 (49 – up 14 – 4.2%)
HRH The Duke of York – 138 (128 – up 10 – 9.1%)
HRH Princess Beatrice – 1 (1 – no change – 0.1%) (Unofficial – 17)
HRH Princess Eugenie – 2 (2 – no change – 0.1%) (Unofficial – 5)

HRH Princess Michael of Kent – 1 (1 – no change – 0.1%)

The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: NONE

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th February and 19th, 26th March, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th April (Easter Long weekend), 2nd May, 14th and 28th May, 2017

Those underlined are dates on which other sources indicate there were official engagements but the British Monarchy CC has, for some reason, decided not to update on their site.

Types of Engagements to 8th June, 2017

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 8th June, 2017 – Part A

Royal Palaces where Events Occurred to 8th June, 2017

NB This is a count of number of engagements not number of royals who attended an engagement at the palace so an engagement where 2 royals attended the same event is counted here as one engagement at that venue.

A note about the 'types of engagements' and the 'organisations and charities' lists:

From July I intend on only posting those 'types' or 'organisations' that have had a new engagement during the week or have been added during the week.

Many 'organisations' have had one engagement all year and there are often 5 - 8 new ones in a week and they get lost in the long lists so I think that would show what is happening in a clearer manner for everyone.

I will still put up the full list at the end of December along with some additional analysis of these lists.

Weekly Update to 15th June, 2017

Sorry – I thought I would have these up yesterday but then I had visitors and the football and other ‘real life events’ took over.

Year to Date Total – 1613 (1510 – up 103)

Comparison with last year – 1826-1613=213 fewer this year in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this appears to be out by 95 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 213 to this point of the year compared to how many were done last year. The 95 isn’t my figure but was calculated by someone else so I am not sure how it would stack up to my figures.

Percentage of Engagements

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 9th and 10th June (normally Prince Philip’s birthday would be acknowledged in the CC but not even that was done on the 10th June so this is a definite missing date)

Types of Engagements to 15th June, 2017

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 15th June, 2017 – Part A
