British Royal Family Engagements 2017

Weekly Update to 23rd February, 2017

A very easy update this week as the online CC has not been updated at all. I have never come across NO updates for an entire week before. The last date they have up is the 16th February.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd February

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th February

12 days since the last CC online update and counting. Last entry online is still 16th February.

Is there a reason given for the suspension of updates? They are usually so prompt about such things.

No reason has been given - just slackness. They have been getting quite slack since the change to the new website last year and missed about 4 days for about three months last year - I kept a public record here for instance (not that they would care about that I am sure).

I am going to keep calling them out on this as they are public servants and should be doing their jobs (and if they can't do them then employ someone who can - or is the Queen really saying that there has been no official duties carried out since the 16th February???)

As I don't have access to the printed versions of the CC - in The Times or The Telegraph - I don't know if there has been a CC published on those days. If there hasn't been then nothing has been official since the 16th but if there is a CC in the printed versions and not online then someone is stuffing up doing their jobs.

Last update at the online CC on the British Monarchy website is still the 16th February - so 13 days and counting.

Missing are: 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th February and 1st March.

Can someone tip off the DM about this... So that they will cook up a story of something big going wrong inside. Atleast then they will wake up..

Make that 14 days - nothing since the 16th February.

Can they actually go a whole month with no update? I think so.

Weekly Update to 2nd March, 2017

Another very easy update this week as the online CC has not been updated again. Last week I said that I had never come across NO updates for an entire week before. Now it is a fortnight with no updates. The last date they have up is the 16th February.

FAILURE of British Monarchy Website to UPDATE CC

The weekly failure of the British Monarchy website: 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th February as well as 1st and 2nd March.

No engagements from earlier in the year: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 2017, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd February.

I am beginning to suspect that they BRF are going to let the online CC simply disappear - or none of the reported events from the last two weeks were actually official engagements including the reception that the Queen gave that William and Kate attended.

It seems that my suspicions are being born out and that the online CC is not going to be updated.

It hasn't been updated since the 16th February so missing now for 18 days.

Can anyone let me know if there has been a print version of the CC during that time?

I think this is in keeping with the strategy of reducing the number of working royals (letting present ones pass) and thus lesser events..

Update news:

They have updated from the 28th February but nothing for the 17-27th February.

They are thus missing the following dates:

17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th February or 11 days.

That will mean that any figures I am able to put up will be missing many engagements for most of the royals when I do my update this Saturday.

I doubt that this has anything to do with reducing the number of working royals as even those people need their engagements recorded to justify their taxpayer support - that was the reason for introducing the CC in the first place - and in a much less critical times than they are today (the 1760s).

It is more a slack staff who can't be bothered doing their job and a boss who doesn't care that the job isn't being done either.

Weekly Update to 2nd March, 2017

These figures will be inaccurate as the online CC hasn’t updated for the 17th – 27th February. There could be over 100 engagements missing as a result. IF they ever do update these missing dates I will do a ‘catch-up’ entry to include these entries. Since my last update, for instance, Charles and Camilla have done no engagements and that I simply don’t believe. Harry also has done nothing from the 17th February – 2nd March.

Last year they took nearly three months to put up the 4 – 5 days they missed in July so maybe they will put up these missing days around December this year – or maybe never.

Anyone relying on the online CC for a record of current royal engagements should have learnt by now that it isn’t reliable – which also reduces its reliability for past years as well – sadly – as future historians will use the online version rather than print versions and it isn’t reliable at all.

Year to Date Total – 325 (286 – up 39)

I thought I would add a comparison figure for last year to see whether there are more or less engagements being done to the same week of the year. This will only happen sometimes and not every week.

Comparison with last year – 466-325=141 fewer this year to this week in comparison to last year. NB With no updates from the 17th – 27th February this figure could be out by around 100 but that is what they are recording so that is what it is – down 141 to this point of the year on how many were done last year.

Percentage of Engagements

90s (Elizabeth, Philip) – 11.4%
80s (Edward Kent, Alexandra) – 3.7%

Types of Engagements to 2nd March, 2017

NOTE: If you add up the totals from this section they will invariably be more than the weekly and yearly totals because of the way engagements are described e.g. HM ‘received and invested an individual’ on the 3rd January which is why she has ONE engagement but there are two items listed here. I do NOT count ‘where received by the Lord Lt or someone else when there is more to the engagement unless it is at the start of an official visit overseas e.g. Anne was ‘received by the Deputy Lt of Oxfordshire for her engagement but that was simply a handshake before entering the conference type thing as opposed to a formal start to a tour such as we saw last year when Charles and Camilla visited the Middle East.

Weekly Update to 9th March, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing.

This week included the Afghan/Iraqi War memorial unveiling as well as Edward’s overseas visit largely in support of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Otherwise the normal openings, visits etc.

HM The Queen – 38 (32 – up 6 – 9.6%)
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh – 9 (5 – up 4 – 2.3%)

Thanks for those. I will add them to my 'unofficial list' for Eugenie.

After missing two consecutive weeks in February and then updating for half of that time the CC has reverted to its bad old ways - it hasn't updated since the 10th March - so another week with no updates.

The CC this year is appalling but presumably the BRF don't care about the PR of something like this.

Weekly Update to 16th March, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing.

Types of Engagements to 16th March, 2017

Specific Charities or Organisations Supported via an Official Engagement to 16th March, 2017

It should be noted that the event/s involving a charity/organization may or may not be carried out by the patron, president etc. It should also be noted that sometimes an event is related to two or more charities or organisations and I have recorded all of them here. Both Camilla and Andrew attended such events during this past week.

I have changed ‘Royal Colonel’ to Honourary Military Appointment because Camilla’s engagement this week wasn’t as a ‘Royal Colonel’ but as an Honourary Appointment so I put them all together rather than split them.

Weekly Update to 23rd March, 2017

These figures will be still inaccurate as the online CC didn’t update between the 17th – 27th February. Amongst the missing engagements is the reception that most of the royal attended including Eugenie which is why she isn’t yet listed as undertaking an official duty as she hasn’t yet appeared in the CC at all with that engagement missing. I have read elsewhere that there were 95 engagements on these missing days. That is a lot of missing engagements and then add in the 8th March on which I believe other engagements also took place it is clear that there is around 100 engagements missing from my tally at the moment – who knows they may update one day – but outside my window this is what I can see: :pigsfly::pigsfly::pigsfly::pigsfly::pigsfly::pigsfly::pigsfly:

I would like to acknowledge that the CC did update the 8th March – with its 24 engagements during this past week. That will also explain why these figures may look a little strange as I have added them in here. The royals who undertook engagements on the 8th were: Elizabeth, Philip, Charles, Camilla, Edward, Anne, Richard and Birgitte. That means that for these people there are more ‘ups’ this week than were actually undertaken between the 17th and 23rd March as they also include those for the 8th March, 2017.
