Again - likely wrong place but excellent graphic. I posted the British Isles version from twitter a few days ago. Here is a graphic of the Commonwealth and Territories. Brilliant!

That one looks like a giant PacMan Commonwealth is devouring all the others

But thank you AdmirerUS for posting both graphics, very handy in understanding the different terms.

Sounds like the Earl and Countess have an American Private Secretary.

The Duke of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall were introduced as members of the Privy Council last night, the Court Circular records.

Unusually, Prince Philip also attended the Privy Council meeting with the Queen and her advisers.

I think it's very cool that the Duchess of Cornwall was also added.

Clear preparation for when Charles is King and a mark of how she is valued by the Queen.

Well, William is already a Counsellor of State. If that's the same thing. It's new to hear of Camilla being involved though.

It's not the same as a councilor of state. There are over 650 members of the privy council. They are the advisors to the monarch. The councillors of state fill in when the monarch is out of the country. Who can be a CoS is defined by law- first 4 adults in line of succession plus consort. So Camilla will be one when Charles is King.

Spot on. It's clearly a new mark of respect from the Queen.

On June 10, there was a Senior Colonels Conference and Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

Chaired by The Duke of Edinburgh, in attendance were The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, The Earl Of Wessex, The Princess Royal and The Duke of Kent.

One additional qualification is that they must be resident in the UK.

The Queen is empowered to disqualify a person residing abroad from being a Counsellor of State, but she is not legally obligated to.

Quote:
Regency Act 1937

Provided that, if it appears to the Sovereign that any person who, in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this subsection, would be required to be included among the Counsellors of State to whom royal functions are to be delegated, is absent from the United Kingdom or intends to be so absent during the whole or any part of the period of such delegation, the Letters Patent may make provision for excepting that person from among the number of Counsellors of State during the period of such absence.

Thank you for sharing these. It was nice to see the Duchess of Gloucester there with HM, Harry and Eugenie.

The way People magazine defines the Commonwealth is so very 6th grade US reader level. I love my country, but I also worry about what we gloss over in life.

Harry's description of how HM's example is one that he "aspires" to and the "standard" of how he'll "judge (his) contribution" was very eloquent and powerful. I imagine it means a lot to HM that her family has so much respect for all her hard work over the years.
