This morning, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and The Duke of Gloucester met young people who have completed The Gold Award – and this afternoon The Princess Royal and Princess Beatrice joined The Earl for today’s second presentation.

Only the Wales family was not represented. Do they ever attend DoE-events?

Prince William presented the gold award last year.

Harry has done events for it abroad. I remember in Toronto.

Not sure if Charles/Camilla ever have.

I think it’s nice to have one thing not supposed by the Wales daily. They don’t have to be involved with everything. This has been Edward baby for many years now and enlisting the help of his family is important but I’m glad that others are chosen and not just the Wales branch.

Interestingly last year Beatrice attended this event and it was mentioned in the CC but this year she isn't recorded as attending officially.

The first Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace of 2019-

Its so strange not to see H.M.The Queen at a Palace garden party.

That's the first thing that came to mind for me too. Has the Queen ever not attended one of her garden parties before?

Also very strange that The Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and The Princess Royal get a full verse of the National Anthem.

Surely they are only entitled to the first six bars?

I had no idea about this but yes, apparently it's on HM and DOE that are entitled to the full thing. How interesting.

I wonder if at a garden party like this where they represent The Queen are the treated as she would be!

Guess they are still figuring out how to do these ‘new’ types of event without The Queen!

This was the first event that went up on the FE for HM this year so I wonder if something is wrong ... it was still on the FE when I checked over the weekend.

Well, she’s supposed to go to the wedding on Saturday, so we’ll see. She was fine on Sunday.

The Queen probably needed to rest. Her legs were swollen when she attended the pageant show with Harry and Prince Philip. Probably due to poor circulation and standing too long.

I know. That is why it is strange - particularly as neither the RWHS nor the wedding are official engagements and this one was. It would be normal for some sort of announcement to also have been made to explain her absence e.g. she has developed a cold or something.

Who knows:question:
I just checked and she had her regular audience with the PM yesterday, so I don’t think she’s ill.

.

On May 14 the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra attended a performance of the Bach Partitas at Wigmore Hall:

:previous: You are correct. Surely this is exactly the type of engagement, with its requirement for her to be walking and standing for a long period of time, (and it is much harder walking and standing on soft grass) we would expect her to hand to the heir, etc. Sitting and talking with the PM is not a physically arduous task.

Here's another video from the Garden Party I've just noticed the Duke of Yorka and Earl and Countess of Wessex were present.

We have had a right royal few days haven't we!

We did! It's always a busy time of year for the BRF, they're seen out and about quite often, but with the wedding and the surprised appearence of little kiddos at their mom's garden it's certainly special this year.

Not to mention Trooping the colour is also on the horizon and that's one of my favourite royal events!

The Queen gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy were present.

Several members of the family attended two receptions for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at the Buckingham Palace Gardens today, May 22.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex together with Prince Michael of Kent attended in the morning, the Earl and Countess of Wessex with Princess Eugenie attended in the afternoon:

Just as last week when Beatrice attended such a reception this week neither Eugenie nor Prince Michael are credited in the CC. Last year they were but not this year. Clearly even when they now do events with other royals, besides the Queen, they are no longer being given any acknowledgement. This would show signs of the 'smaller royal family' is coming to fruition slowly.

When we look back to Monday and the Chelsea Flower Show - no mention of Beatrice's attendance, which would have been mentioned last year. Nor is there any mention of the Micheal's of Kent - who also would often gain a mention for their attendance.
