think the hat of sonja very odd with the upward and downward triangles in the front, it looks like what ET would wear befor being beemed up.

I'm so glad that there have been so many good pictures, and it's just in the beginning of this visit! It gives a promise of more wonderful pictures to come, I can't wait (especially for the banquet tonight), I'm so excited!

I think Queen Elizabeth looked absolutely lovely in her light yellow outfit, she's such an elegant and poised lady. Crown Princess Mette-Marit's outfit was also very nice, I particularly liked the colour combination. Queen Sonja's hat was a bit weird, not in my taste, but otherwise she looked good too. King Harald also looked like the King he is. The Duke of Edinburgh looked a bit lost though at some of the pictures, standing there beside the other royals, perhaps waiting for his turn to be greeted and to greet.

I like Sonja's hat. It just seems strange to see her wearing a hat with the Queen bareheaded. The Queen is usually the one who wears hats everywhere.

Whatever you say about Mette-Marit and Haakon, they are such a nice looking couple. Haakon is especially attractive.

I'm not really a fan of Mette-Marit's shoes. I know they're flat so they're a hundred times more comfortable than heels but they just make anyone's legs (unless you're very tall) look stumpy. Overall though, everyone looked lovely.

I'm blow away by the carriage too!!

Isn't Mette-Marit 6 feet tall, Noelle? How tall do you think a woman should be not too look stumpy in flats?

Is she? I didn't know...Well, whether she's 6'0 or 4'0, I don't like the shoes.

I assume the reason Queen Elizabeth didn't wear a hat is that she was at home and not going out whereas Queen Sonja had just been travelling. From one of the photos above, it looks as though Queen Sonja had removed her hat and coat after she arrived.

Good point Elspeth. I hadn't thought of that.

I must say this is a group of very nice looking men. Prince Philip, King Harald, Prince Haakon, I've never seen a group this good looking in quite awhile. Usually its the women who are gorgeous and the men just average but not this time. Even Tim Laurence looks good.

They make for a very impressive looking ceremony.

did sonja and mette marit got an accord for the colour they were going to wear? mette marit's is a little darker than sonja's but still the same light bluey.

mette marit looked beautiful. i definetely loved the combination of colours. black and some other bright colour seem to suit her (as in the time she went to ingrid's exhibition, she wore black combined with dark red and both made a great combination of her). the hat is definetely much better than the "feather" ones she usually wears.

however, sonja didn't look that good. that hat, although original, was just too weird to be seen on a queen's head. prefer the simplicity of queen elizabeth.

any photos of any royal cursies this time? anne to sonja, mette marit to elizabeth...?

i just saw mette marit wore the previous day, when getting on board, the prada shoes mary wore when arriving at sydney airport (different colour though, mette marit's are brown while mary's were black)...
