is it just me or kate looks "fuller" around the face?
 
O.k. Her speech was good, although it sounded similar to her first speech. Maybe she used some of the wording from that one. As for the dinner, the dress was unusual, kind of pretty, definitely different than what she has worn before. Not quite sure about it. And why no tiara? Even something small, the cartier scroll maybe, would have been appropriate I think. Is it because no one else was wearing?

You will have to ask their hosts about lack of tiaras. Generally the hosts are the ones who determine the dress code for the dinner they were giving.
 
It is right that Kate speaks in her speech "william and I..."? I have hear so many times Prince Felipe saying about Letizia "the Princess...and not her name...so what is correct?

Their first stop is a cultural event at Kuala Lumpur City Center, then they'll attend a luncheon hosted by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce. Their last event before flying to Sabah, is a Diamond Jubilee tea party at the British High Commissioner's residence.

Once they arrive in Kota Kinabalu, they'll attend a reception hosted by the Sabah State Government.

I agree about the speech. It was better than her first - everything seemed to flow better. She did well.

Probably depends on the couple and the country. Both seem fine.

I think the evening dress is a nod to Malaysia. It's a Malay state and traditionally, only royalty could use gold colour for their clothing. Interestingly, I think the dress is convertible to a white evening dress - there seems to be 2 layers. The external layer with the gold should be detachable.

I guess it's similar to the way that Charles at times talks about his mother as 'The Queen' and on others 'my Mama'. Depends on the occasion and the audience.

We know that William and Kate insist on their staff referring to them by their first names, as opposed to 'Sir' or 'Ma'am'. They're a bit more relaxed about these things it seems.
 
I'm not a fan of her evening gown. She's worn better ones in the past IMO. However, I do like that she' pulled her hair away from her face. IMO she should wear her hair in this fashion more often. She is frequently moving her hair out of her face when it is down.
 
Re: Tiara, I think you all are forgetting that Will & Kate are NOT the heirs. Will is the son of the heir. I don't think we will see Kate wear tiaras on trips like these until Will is the heir.

That being said, I love what Kate wore. Her dress was gorgeous!
 
I think the Alexander McQueen designer did a great job on this gown for Catherine. She looks great and so pleased she has her hair away from her face for a more formal look. I think she is stunning in this and hope the gown is changeable for later on, as Tlk has suggested.

This brought tears to my eyes. The young boy will treasure this card (as well as the memory of meeting Catherine) for the rest of his life. I hope this brings him some ease and sunshine. He sure could use it. In terms of Catherine's speech, I thought she delivered it just fine, and I think her passion came across rather well. She may not be jumping up and down as she's talking about it, but you can tell that she feels very strongly about this particular cause.

Great article! Catherine is a gift with her endless supply of love, compassion, warmth and willingness to make a difference. I can't even imagine how much this gesture means to the boy and those close to him. I have no doubt that some will view this act as 'fake', call her interactions with the child 'awkward', but I think the smile on the face of the star of this meeting (the young man, holding his birthday card, and grinning as if he won the lottery) tells me all that I need to know. She touched a life, and if she never does another kind thing again, she can go to sleep at night, knowing she gave a little of herself in order to help another human being.

On a lighter note, The shots from the walkabout make me smile, because Catherine's grin is extremely contagious :D.

After this they will go to tea party and then fly to Kuala Lumpur. They will be welcome with a reception held by the state government. They will then retire for the night.

These are the times for the rest of today's appearances (NOTE: All times are in UK time)
It is currently almost 5:30am in the UK
5/6am: Lunch with hosted by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.
7/8am: Jubilee tea party.
Fly to Kota Kinabalu, in Sabah, Malaysia.(I think the flight is around 2 hours I read so they'd land 11am or so UK time which is 3am my time)

Early afternoon: Reception to welcome them to Kota Kinabalu.

i'm excited. first look of kate i am really fond of. the veil looked lovely on the dress, and the updo was a dream. it's apparently a custom made dress by beluah.

she seems to have some vivid conversations with the people, like the one with mrs. ibrahim.

Once they finish with the Tea Party they're going to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur and when they arrive they will attend a reception. Sadly I will have to miss that. I've had almost no sleep in 3 days cause of school, this tour and renovations to my house and tomorrow's my day off so I need to get some shut eye or else my body is going to collapse or something.

Kate seems to be in good spirits despite her shock this morning. She looks lovely wearing that head scarf.

You'd think Diana was the only royal ever to cover her head to enter a mosque the way the press goes on, which she very much wasn't.
