Just my opinion but this royal family is a bit..er...strange. :ROFLMAO:
 
It seems odd to an outsider, but the Malaysia unique system works fine.

Today Friday 14 October 2016 all the Nine Rulers will convene a Special Meeting for the Conference of Rulers to choose the next King (the 15th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong who will succeed the current Tuanku Abdul Halim who will end his five-year term). The Special Meeting will be held at the National Palace, Kuala Lumpur.

In this meeting the Keeper of the Ruler's Seals will ask the Ruler whose name is next on the rotation list (the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V) on his willingness to be chosen as the next King. If he is ready, then a secret ballot will be made and if he gets at least 5 votes, he will be declared as the 15th King of Malaysia. We will know the result by afternoon. The 15th King of Malaysia will take the oath of office on 13 December 2016.

# To make it clear to non-Malaysians, the current Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim will be returning to the state of Kedah on 12 December 2016 and resume his duties as the Sultan of Kedah as usual. Ending his term as the King of Malaysia does not mean that he is going for retirement or vacation. It's a rotational constitutional monarchy and there's nothing strange about it when there are nine Royal Families in the country.
 
All the Nine Rulers started the Special Meeting to choose the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the National Palace this morning. It's Friday prayer time by now, I hope the decision will be reached and proclaimed soon.

The Special Meeting has decided to choose Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan to be the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV and Sultan Nazrin Mu'izzudin Shah of Perak as the Deputy of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Both Rulers will be sworn in an Oath of Office and Signing of Instrument of Office at the Throne Hall of the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur on 13 December 2016. They are given a five-year term on the Federal Throne. God is Great! Long live the King!

Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan has consented to appoint Tengku Mahkota Tengku Dr. Muhammad Faiz Petra as the Regent of the state of Kelantan. Tengku Dr. Muhammad Faiz will exercise his role as Regent during the five year tenure of Sultan Muhammad V as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the Federal Throne, which will begin on Tuesday 13 December 2016. Tengku Dr. Muhammad Faiz was sworn in as Regent yesterday Thursday 8 December 2016 at Istana Kota Lama in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.


Sultan Muhammad V will be sworn in as the new King of Malaysia in the 244th Special Meeting of the Conference of Rulers for the Oath Taking and Signing of the Instruments of Office Ceremony for the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur at 11.00am on 13 December 2016 Malaysian time. All the Malay Rulers or their representatives and the four governors as well as the Chief of Justice and invited guests will attend the swearing-in ceremony. The Installation Ceremony will be held at Istana Negara at a later date some time next year 2017.

The Radio Televisyen Malaysia(RTM) will provide live broadcasts of the Departure Ceremony for the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah on Monday 12 December 2016 starting at 8.00am Malaysian time. The ceremony will begin at Istana Negara where the King and Queen will say goodbye to palace officials before going to the Parliament Square for Inspection of Guards of Honour, followed by parade from the parliament house to the KLIA airport. They will fly to Kedah and more than 15000 people are expected to welcome them in the city of Alor Star where they will return to the state palace Istana Anak Bukit and continue their role as the Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah.


On the following day, 13 December 2016, live broadcast will begin at 7.00am Malaysian time to witness the departure of Sultan Muhammad V from Istana Negeri Kubang Kerian in Kota Bharu, the state of Kelantan to the federal capital. The new King will arrive in Kuala Lumpur by flight and given the Official Welcoming Ceremony at the Parliament Square before heading to Istana Negara for the Oath of Office Ceremony, which will begin approximately after 11.00am.

I admit, not much publicity even in Malaysia. We have to really pay attention on all news channels to find their updates.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V consented to receive the highest order of Malaysia - the Darjah Yang Maha Utama Kerabat DiRaja Malaysia (The Most Exalted and Most Illustrious Order of the Royal Family of Malaysia) on 31 January 2017. The order was presented by the Prime Minister at Istana Negara.

Yesterday morning 26 February 2017 on Sunday, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud, Khadim al-Haramain al-Sharifain (the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques) arrived in Malaysia for a four-day State Visit. The King of Saudi Arabia was officially welcomed by Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V at Parliament Square in Kuala Lumpur. King Salman consented to inspect the guards of honour mounted by the 1st Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment.


This is King Salman's first visit to Malaysia and the first foreign Head of State who was invited by Sultan Muhammad V to pay a State Visit to Malaysia since being sworn in as the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.



Today King Salman attended the Special Convocation for the Conferment of the Honorary Doctorate of Letters at Universiti Malaya. Tomorrow night His Majesty will attend another Special Convocation for the Conferment of the Honorary Doctorate of Political Science at the International Islamic University Malaysia.

Last night King Salman and members of the Royal Family of Bani Saud were hosted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V in a State Banquet at Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur.


Before the banquet, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was pleased to award the highest order of Malaysia, the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara or the Most Exalted Order of the Crown of the Realm to King Salman. This order has no class and it is only conferred to Raja-Raja Permaisuri Agong, the Malay Rulers and foreign Rulers as well as foreign members of Royal Families. The recipients of this order is limited to 30 Royals at one particular time.

His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud Khadim al-Haramain al-Syarifain (the Custodian of the Holy Mosque) tonight received the Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Science (Wasatiyyah and Moderation) at the Cultural Activities Centre in IIUM, Jalan Gombak. The honorary doctorate was conferred by the Constitutional Head of IIUM Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah.


Also in attendance were 19 members of the Royal Family of Bani Saud including Prince Sattam, Prince Talal, Prince Faisal and Prince Mansur as well as the son of the Sultan of Pahang Tengku Aris Temenggong Tengku Fahad Muadzam.

The Installation Ceremony of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V will be held at the Throne Hall of Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow Monday 24 April 2017 beginning at 9.30am Malaysian time.


All the nine Malay Rulers and their Consorts or their representatives, the Pengiran Muda Mahkota of Brunei, the Yang di-Pertua-Yang di-Pertua Negeri of non-royal states as well as other members of the Malay Royal Families will be attending the ceremony tomorrow.

Events that have been lined up to mark this special occasion including:-


1. 20 April 2017: The Special Prayer and Recitation of Surah Yasin at Putra Mosque, Putrajaya beginning at 7.15pm.


2. 24 April 2017: The Installation Ceremony of the King at the Throne Hall, Istana Negara in the morning.


3. 24 April 2017: The Royal Banquet in conjunction with the Installation Ceremony at the Banquet Hall of Istana Negara in the evening beginning at 8.00pm.


4. 28 April 2017: Friday Prayer and Special Sermon at Putra Mosque, Putrajaya beginning at 1.00pm.

The Installation Ceremony of Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad, the 15th King of Malaysia, was held at the Throne Hall of Istana Negara yesterday Monday 24 April 2017 from 9.30am until 11.30am Malaysian time. The ceremony was steeped with Malay tradition. His Majesty kissed the Holy Qur'an and consented to receive the Keris Kerajaan, a special state dagger that symbolises his sovereignty as the Supreme Ruler of the country. The ceremony was graced by the members of the Gendang Besar DiRaja Kelantan who performed three Royal tunes. A 21-gun salute was fired after the crowd shouted the cry of 'Daulat Tuanku' following His Majesty's recitation of the Oath of Installation.

All the Malay Rulers and their Consorts attended the ceremony except the Raja Perempuan of Perlis. Brunei, Kelantan, Pahang, Kedah and Johor sent the representatives of their Rulers. As the King himself is the Ruler of Kelantan, hence his Regent attended.

This afternoon 2 May 2017, The Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV Sultan Muhammad V attended the official opening of the Royal Exhibition of 'Our King' at the old Istana Negara at Jalan Istana, Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition is divided into three segments including the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the History of Kelantan Sultanate and the Personal Life of His Majesty. Members of the public will start viewing this exhibition tomorrow 3 May 2017 for one month.

State Visit of King of Bahrain to Malaysia 30 April - 3 May 2017

The King of Bahrain King Hammad Bin Issa Al-Khalifa embarked on a four-day State Visit to Malaysia since Sunday 30 April 2017 when arrived in Kuala Lumpur at 11.30pm.

The King was given an official welcoming ceremony inside the Banquet Hall of the Parliament on Monday afternoon at 3.15pm by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V. Also in attendance was Prince Nasser Bin Hammad. The King of Bahrain consented to receive the Honorary Airborne Wing and Maroon Beret from the 10th Paratrooper Brigade of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

In the evening the Bahraini Royal Entourage attended the State Banquet hosted by Sultan Muhammad V at Istana Negara.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V attended the breaking of fast with civil servants at Istana Negara in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan. The King also joined the congregation for Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.
