In a few of the threads thay have mentioned the 'ROYAL MEWS",where is this located in Stockholm?

It´s located almost in the city center, next to the Dramatic Theater in Norrmalm-Östermalm, maybe about 1-1,5 kilometer from the Royal Palace.

Why do some of the royal family live here instead of the royal palace?

Why do some of the royal family live here instead of the royal palace?
I don´t really know, but maybe they feel that it´s a little more intimite and private then the "half open, museum" royal palace. Now no member of the royal family lives in the royal palace, i wonder if they ever will again.

I heard that they hae windows that you cannot see throught there?

Mertil Melin, the Court Equerry, the chief of the Royal Mews told about the work of the Royal Stables on last week's Svensk Damtidning.
Melin told that in addition to taking care of the horses and organizing the royal corteges, they take care of all royal transportation, with cars too. They have five chauffeurs. Besides taking the members of the royal family to their duties, they carry the laundry and food and other personal.
Sometimes they "babysit" Madeleine's dog Zorro when she goes to somewhere, Madeleine lives at the Royal Mews. And then you have to be careful, that Oscar, the stable cat, isn't nearby, because Zorro and Oscar don't like eachother.
Soon the Mews makes room for the Shetland pony Frozza, which Victoria and Daniel got as a wedding present. And in a few years Hajdi, the gotland pony Leonore got as a christening present, will move there too. Then Estelle and Leonore can ride together.
Melin told about the cortege at the Opening of the Parliament: the king decides how many carriages are needed and are they open carriages or not. Before the cortege days the king follows the weather forecast and he is almost always very good in it! If you have to change from a open carriage to a covered one, you have to change the gear and clothes too.
Melin tells that he starts his working days by riding about two hours in Djurgården with his horse Cardinal. The staff working at the Royal Mews must know their horses well. At the cortege to the Opening of Parliament is about 80 horses and 100 people, including the police.
The Royal Mews, the police and the Royal Guard trains together before every cortege. They take time at the rehearsals so that everything goes well when it is time for the cortege.
The Royal Mews carries about 5500 car transportations and 25 corteges a year.
The Royal Mews houses 18 horses and 20 cars, including the King's private Porsche.

I'm posting this here as a guess as to where to put it. Was an extended length Volvo used for royal transport in the early 1970's. I know a Daimler DS420 is in the current fleet. Is it right hand drive or left and I'm guessing it's black. Also, do they carry numbers plates?

Follow The Royal Stables' horses out on summer pasturage and well-deserved holiday. At H.M. The King's Royal Stables here are about twenty horses, trained to carry out corteges in, among other things, state visits and formal audiences.

There is a summer café at the Royal Stables, open every day 11.30-16.30. It serves coffee, tea and home baked goods in the quiet and leafy courtyard. There are places both indoors and outdoors.

A new video was published yesterday at the Youtube channel of The Royal Palaces, subtitled in Swedish.

Join The Royal Stables on one of this week's training rounds at the Royal Djurgården with horses Dandy and Favorit. Cavalry driver Markus Henriksson guides us through the tour.
Very well guided by Markus Henriksson, he tells about the buildings they pass and that the tour lasts over an hour.

You can read more about the horses at The Royal Stables here:

New employee
May we introduce Luxor, the new employee at H.M. The King's Royal Stables. Luxor was born in 2016 and has a background as both a driving and riding horse. He is an awake horse and his temperament is very well suited for the job as a parade horse. Luxor was bred and purchased from Bollerups Lantbruksinstitut in Skåne and was then called Bollerup Lyon. When the horses come to the Royal Stables, they change their name. The nameplates from the old Royal Stables on Helgeandsholmen are still used here. Tradition says that the first letter in the name of the father stallion (father Latour) becomes the first letter in the name.

500 years of Sweden's history: The 20th century Royal Mews

The Royal Mews' oldest car and perhaps the most comfortable is a Daimler DE27 Limousine. It was ordered in 1950 for Gustaf V, who only managed to ride a few times before he passed away that fall. The limousine could be delivered with different types and Gustaf V's has room for eight people including the driver. A complete set of tools is hidden under the front seat. Some windows have electric windows and the front window can be opened.
Many royalty and heads of state have been driven with this pearl and it is still used on special occasions today.
