The Blue Salon was decorated around 1760 by Jean Eric Rehn for Queen Lovisa Ulrica. The walls and furniture were originally covered with a blue silk damask. The queen used the room as her study and she kept some of her large collection of paintings in here. Now a collection of portraits of her family now hang in her. The commode is by Georg Haupt.

The library was created by Jean Eric Rehn for Queen Lovisa Ulrica in the 1760's in an early Neoclassical style for her circa 2,000 books. The queen spoke several languages and she even studied English which was most unusual at this time. She liked to surround herself with scientists and other learned men in here and the adjoining museum rooms where she kept her collections. Carl Linnaeus (Carl von Linné) was one of her favourite visitors.

The Marble Cabinet was designed by Jean Eric Rehn in the 1760's with walls covered in marble stucco. This was Queen Lovisa Ulrica's private writing room where no one was allowed in without her permission. It had originally been her first library before the book collection grew. The chandelier is covered with Meissen porcelain flowers.

Queen Lovisa Ulrica's desk that stood in the Marble Cabinet was a gift from her indulgent husband King Adolph Fredric in 1770. It was commissioned from the great cabinet maker George Haupt and became his masterpiece that enabled him to set up a workshop in Stockholm.

It was the first one in Sweden which has hot water, wooden bathtubs, showers and seawater pool. Already Gustav III made sketches to the bathhouse, but he was murdered in 1792. His brother, duke Karl, made the dream come true and the house was build.
Queen Silvia told at the program that there are several rooms at the bathhouse and a big pool. Queen Silvia has never used the bathhouse. She says she doesn't know why, she lives by the water, it is so beautiful, one wants to but it just hasn't happened. She laughs that maybe she is afraid of pikes.

AIX antiquarians developed on behalf of The National Property Board Sweden a care program for the bathhouse at Drottningholm Palace. Palace architect Erland Montgomery was the director of the care program.

Picture of the christening cradle used for Madeleine, Leonore, Nicolas, Oscar and Alexander in Drottningholm Slott.

Aret Med Kungafamiljen 1977 in English subtitles state that Victoria laid in it after her baptism but I have no information on that and her cradle was different

I just think it's a beautiful piece.

The royal court put last week to their Youtube this video, where prince Wilhelm tells about Drottningholm.

Ekerövägen, road 261, just outside the Drottningholm Palace area will be broadened and bus files should be built to provide increased accessibility. During the road work period, accessibility to Drottningholm Palace can be severely restricted.
- Big construction projects, of course, are likely to interfere with the business, but I'm not so worried. The road needs to be rebuilt and we will solve any problems that may arise for visitors going to Drottningholm, says Staffan Larsson, Governor of the Royal Palaces.
Among other things, the entrances to Drottningholm must be relocated, according to information given to Expressen.
- It is true that the entrance to Drottningholm needs to be reviewed. How the exact design becomes, we may return to.
An option to ensure that tourists can still visit Drottningholm is to increase the density of boat trips to the Palace.
- It's something we have discussed to solve any possible interference that may occur along the way.

An article in Svensk Damtidning about the Drottningholm Palace Park, in their series of royal gardens.
In 1998 in the garden started the work to replace the old linden trees with new ones, and the work continued until May 2011, when king Carl Gustaf planted the first tree to leg 5 in the restoration.
Drottningholm is Sweden's oldest sculpture park. There are 46 sculptures.

De Vries Day today at Drottningholm
Take the chance to see the world’s largest collection of Adriaen de Vries sculptures. The museum at Drottningholm has on display a unique collection of sculptures by the Dutch sculptor de Vries.
The collection of sculptures from Adriaen de Vries (1556–1626) can be seen at the old Dragoon Stables from the 1700s at Drottningholm.
The bronze sculptures, dating back to the beginning of the 1600s, were brought to Sweden as booty and were eventually placed in the Drottningholm Palace park.
Today these sculptures have been replaced by modern bronze casts and the originals can be seen at the Museum De Vries. The museum contains the world's largest collection of Adriaen De Vries' work.

Drottningholm Palace - one of 34 world heritage sites that digitally attracts more tourists to Europe
World Heritage Journeys is launched today around Europe - a common world heritage site aimed at attracting tourists from the US and China to Europe. The site is an EU-funded project in collaboration with Unesco and National Geographic together with 34 selected world heritage sites in Europe. Drottningholm Palace facility is one of the unique cultural heritage that is part of the project.
- This is an excellent opportunity to participate in and influence how we want the world heritage of Drottningholm to be experienced. Working with local, regional, national and now international players developing methods and tools for more sustainable travel is extremely important for us. We are convinced that world heritage tourism is a good channel for it, says Helena Chreisti, Head of Marketing and Education at the Royal Court and Lena Flodin, World Heritage Coordinator at the National Property Board Sweden.

The Palace guard arrested two after a drone flight over Drottningholm
Two people were arrested after they had flown a drone over Drottningholm Palace on Sunday afternoon.
The police got the alarm about the suspected drone flight at 15.22.
- It was staff that apprehended two people, says Towe Hägg at the police regional management center.
According to Aftonbladet, the two persons are foreign citizens and have flown with a drone over the Palace area.
The Palace guard, employed by the Armed Forces, summoned the police.
- We have two people arrested for violation of the protective law. They will now be heard and then we contact a prosecutor who decide if they will be arrested or not, says Towe Hägg.
Margareta Thorgren states that the king was informed of the incident.
- In all events that are extraordinary, even in this case, we provide information.
Drottningholm Palace is a protected object, it is not allowed to fly drones over it.
- The intervention is routine on such occasions, says Thorgren.

It would seem that drones could provide a significant threat to security in the future for all the royals, airports etc.

Photo from the Instagram of Håkan Groth, a swedish born antique dealer and expert, author and photographer.

This is the largest of the chandeliers that hung in the Ballroom at the Stockholm Royal Palace. It would have been made in the second half of the 1840s, but I haven’t been able to find out by whom or where.
It has been restored in recent times and is now hanging in the Royal Chapel in Drottningholm Palace.

Two cast iron urns have been stolen from Drottningholm Palace on Ekerö. The theft occurred sometime during the night between Monday 19 November and Tuesday 20 November.
The urns are described as invaluable.
Alarm service now urges the public to keep an eye on the urns. Anyone who may have any information to help bring the urn back to their place outside the Palace is asked to contact the police on 114 14.
According to the court, two Hedvig Eleonora urns have been stolen.
- It is very sad that such thefts occur. The king's will is that parks should be a place for the public to walk freely on, explains Margareta Thorgren.
Två urnor försvunna från Drottningholms slott

How the royal couple reacted?
- The royal couple, yes also the others in the royal family, are informed. Of course, they think this is very sad, says Margareta Thorgren.
- Well, it's not the originals from the 17th century that are gone, but two copies made in 1988. But these urns are still invaluable. The theft is reported to the police, of course, and the case is handed over to the police.
These urns must be extremely heavy?
- Yes, these are objects that are very difficult to move on their own.

Ehrenstrahl Drawing Room in 360°
The Ehrenstrahl Drawing Room is named after its many paintings by court painter David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl. Click on the image above to start the tour and experience the art in the grand state room.
Ehrenstrahl's paintings depict important events in the life of Queen Hedvig Eleonora and her son Karl XI in the form of allegories. In the virtual tour the allegories are explained.
The tour also shows French rococo chairs, Chinese porcelain and a rococo clock.
The Ehrenstrahl Drawing Room can be visited during Drottningholm Palace's regular opening hours, but also with this 360° tour.

The State Bedchamber in 360°
Hedvig Eleonora’s State Bedchamber is one of of Drottningholms Palace's highlights. Experience one of Sweden’s grandest Baroque rooms in 360°.
Influenced by French prototype, the palace was built by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder by commission of Queen Hedvig Eleonora.
The splendour of the royal palaces became a way to confirm the power of the monarch. One room that exudes power throughout is Hedvig Eleonora’s State Bedchamber. The entire room is full of symbols of royal power, but there is also a more personal message.
