Casa Palacio Hernán Cortés, (Seville)
Hernán Cortés´s palace; placed in Castilleja de la Cuesta, only 5 minutes from Seville (Spain), was the last residence from the conquest of mexico.
This building from the XVI century, with neomudéjar style, was later bougth by the duchy of Montpensier one of the most important families of Seville. Even if their residence used to be the Palacio de San Telmo, this palace was used as their summer house.
When their daugter Maria of Orleans was married with the king Alfonso XII she received the palace as a gift, but after her suddenlly dead , the building was given to Maria de las Mercedes ( princess of asturias), one of the king´s daugthers.
Finally the buiding was sell by Maria de las Mercedes to the irish nuns, whom from 1903 until now run a public school inside the palace.
