Oh thanks Warren. I didn't know he was a real prince; I just thought he was some titled Lord who lived in Italy. Oops! I guess it seems that even ‘Royals’ are desperate for a date.

You can buy university degrees over the internet which is absolutely disgusting and I feel the same way about buying titles.

True but they won't have the same Honour and Distinction as receiving a Title from Royalty would have. That's half the Fun.:)

I watched it, and posted a review on another message board, of which I will post in a second...

While watching I noticed that the production date was 2003, so this show was actually shot and produced before Australian Princess. I found this little blurb at the Television Without Pity forums:

Quote:
AMERICAN PRINCESS (NBC) - WE: Women's Entertainment has purchased the broadcast rights to NBC's long-shelved reality series in which a group of regular Janes is sent to England for a sort of royalty boot camp. Shot in the spring of 2003, "Princess" never wound up on the Peacock's schedule and an attempt to shift the series to PAX fell through after said network made the move to reposition itself as an outlet for infomercials. Granda Television is behind "Princess," which will begin airing on Sunday nights (exact time TBA) beginning August 14 on the cable channel.
- thefutoncritic.com -
And my review (originally posted at the Crown Princess Mary MB):

Quote:
I just watched the first episode of American Princess and it was rather interesting. The contestants thought that being a princess meant nothing more than being waited on hand and foot. The etiquette experts were really snobby and one woman even said that a lady never wears pants! I wonder if she's seen Crown Princess Mary's pants...I wonder what she'd have to say about any princess's trousers.

I remember that they were going to do such a show back then. So they actually did it then. Hmm. 2 years in the making. Anyway, to quote Balki Bartokomous, "Don´t be ridiculous". No pants. What a silly idea. What century are they living in? Pants on women can be quite classy and stylish. So apparently, nothing of yet, on how to be elegant and graceful in public? Nothing on straddling that line between being approachable and being seen as a member of royalty, i.e. someone who deserves respect at all times? How unfortunate. Once again, members of TRF, we wonder "Why didn´t they ask us to contribute"? :)

I guess Letizia and Mathilde, and even CP Victoria, are going to have to put away their pants!

Did Burrell voice an opinion on that??

LOL I know.
Burrell wasn't there for that one. I think it was just that lady. Catherine Oxenberg (Oxenburg?) wasn't there (I think she was there later, but didn't hear that comment).
Did you like that one question that one girl had for Burrell abt the Queen having a Pig as pet??? I slapped my hand to my forehead & felt so bad for the poor girl. But I must say most of them are clueless. Of course that is just my opinion.

Question- Does anyone know who won the Australian version?

The premise is this: several women compete for the title of 'American Princess', just like 'Australian Princess'. There are no more details of this show.

I cannot believe they let Paul Burrell on the show. I'm sorry but his arrogance and attitude are unbelievable. He must remember he was nothing more than a servant to the royal family and not a royal or aristocratic himself. How flagrant of him.

You can tell the difference in class between him and that Polish/Spanish Princess who was just on this past Sunday.

So Sunday is the big finale and this girl was crowned two years ago from the U.S....

Okay...so does anyone know who the American winner is? :)

He is so cocky.....If that were a real high society dinner, his place would be behind the chair serving and not sitting at the table.

Forgive my anger, but I think he has a lot of nerve in many of his past indiscretions involving Diana.

LOL I agree Australian, however, you're missing one big thing. You have to go on a silly show so that you can get exposure, if not internationally, at least locally Otherwise having a title and not being able to show it off to the world really means nothing LOL

Well fellow Australians, it appears channel 10 has lost just that bit more dignity, and is airing the first episode of 'Australian Princess', on Wednesday evening. How disappointing.

Hmm, I didn't think Channel 10 had any dignity to start with.

The reality TV show Australian Princess is shaping up as fascinating fashion viewing. Pictured above are some of the 14 women, aged 18 to 28, competing for the title and $100,000 prize package. Contestants include a cabinetmaker, race-car driver, surfer, concert pianist, lawyer and a plastic surgery receptionist with "Princess" tattooed on her back.

Hosted by Jackie O - now there's a princess - the gals are guided on their Pygmalion-style journey by the former butler to Princess Diana, Paul Burrell, British etiquette expert Jean Broke-Smith and aunty to princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Jane Ferguson, with look-ins by polo player James Ashton and London's Daily Mirror royal correspondent James Whitaker.

Wow, Jackie O hosting this show. Now that's classy!

Well, does the Queen have a pig??

I assume you're speaking of a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig (and not a farm pig like we have in Iowa). Hmmm, it would be amusing to trade in the herd of corgis for a herd of pigs!! :)
