"Isabel" (2012) - Spanish TV series about Isabella of Castile

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I've sent Sky Arts a pm via Facebook to see if Isabel season 2 will be coming back in 2014!!

Good idea, I will too. I wonder what the ratings were like. I have hopes that it will return given the success and pleasing reviews it has received.

I'm a bit hopeful as Spanish period drama 'Grand Hotel' Season2 returns tonight!!

Sky Arts replied back 'We have no information regarding Isabel Season 2 yet'

Ah well we'll just have to wait & see.

I just discovered, thanks to the very paltry "Isabel" thread on TWoP, that all of Season 1 and most of Season 2, are available at dramafever.com, complete with subtitles. I've just enjoyed the first two episodes of Season 1 and am really enjoying it so far. I plan on having a marathon viewing session tomorrow.

Hoping it might feature in the Autumn schedule. (Might need to re-run season 1 first as it's so long since it was aired).

I am too!

It started last year towards the end of September, might pop them another message on Facebook and see what they say ;)

From Sky Arts

Sadly we don't have any information on Season 2 at this moment, but we do hope to be able to show this in the future.

To keep up to date and to receive an email when Isabel is due to return to Sky Arts, please visit the following page.

Well that's kind of good news, but we will definitely need a resume of the first series by the time they get round to airing it.

The portuguese television is currently broadcasting season 1... Just love it!!!

Hopefully we won't be waiting too long, series 1 started about this time last year on Sky Arts!

I am enjoying Season 2 better than Season 1 due to the greater focus on pan-European politics featuring several international players like: Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia) and his son Cesare, Charles VIII of France, John II and Manuel I of Portugal, Henry VII of England, and Philip the Handsome (son of the Holy Roman Emperor, Maximilian).

:previous: You mean season 3, that is airing on TVE now, right? I also think it is the best one so far, but Isabella and Ferdinand´s children are my historical weakness and eternal love, so I may be a little partial  The Borgia and French plots (Anne of Brittany ) are great too. And I´m so looking foward to see the English court because my dearest Katherine looks EXACTLY like her portraits

Still nothing up at DramaFever either. :-(
Drama Fever has season 1 and 2 available. They usually air the new season after its ending on TVE. Season 3 is currently airing on Spain (ep. 4 tonight) so I guess it won´t be on DF until December.

Yes I have been checking on a weekly basis to see if Sky Arts have any news on series 2 but sadly nothing. Ah well may get the dvd box set for Christmas viewing!

Tonight TVE is releasing the final episode. I have already watched it: last wednesday the producers organized a premiere for fans at a cinema in Madrid, coinciding with the 510 anniversary of Queen Isabel's death. It was great as always and I even could talk to some of the cast members that I especially liked in the series such as the actors that play Kings Charles VIII and Louis XII of France, Anne of Brittany, Princess Isabel or Catherine of Aragon :)

Anyway I will watch it again, together with the special they're going to air afterwards with the making of and interviews to the director, writers and cast.

And there is confirmed already a spin-off series for TVE by the same producers that will start its shooting on February. The new series will be telling the life of Emperor/King Charles V, Isabella's grandson, and they're planning to do three seasons as well. Little more is known, not even about the cast, although it is romoured (and someone quite close to the producers team told me is almost sure) that Charles will be played by the young actor Alvaro Cervantes who, following Isabel's path, looks nothing like the real model :D

If the spin off is half as good as Isabel then TVE could be onto a winner as Charles V life and reign is one of my favourite historical era's!

I've been watching this show from time to time on July, and am really impatient to get series 3!

It's been really interesting to see the different visions for Spain's future being played out. It seems that Carrillo and Paccheco wanted to use Enrique, Isabel and Fernando as puppets while they pulled the strings behind the scenes. I really don't know who I despise more between those two.

TVE prepares the movie "La Corona partida" (The divided Crown) that will continue "Isabel", starring Irene Escolar and Rodolfo Sancho who will repeat their roles as Juana of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, respectively.

The cast features some other actors from Isabel as Raul Mérida as Philippe the Handsome and Eusebio Poncela as Cardinal Cisneros.

The movie starts on DEcember 26, 1504 with Juana's proclamation as Queen of Castile after her mother's, Queen Isabel's death.
The story starts on December 26, 1504. After Isabella died, his daughter Juana is proclaimed Queen of Castile, but his father Fernando continued to serve the Government of the Kingdom. The film, which will focus particularly on the relationship between Fernando and Juana, also have the intrigues of Philip the Fair to seize power, which resulted in the signing, first, of Concord of Salamanca, where the government was established sharing Felipe, Juana and Fernando; and then in the Treaty of Villafáfila, by which Philip was proclaimed King of Castile and Ferdinand retired to Aragon. The strange death of legendary Felipe, coupled with the growing madness of Juana, take Fernando to shut his daughter and occupy the regency until his death in 1516 will be reflected in the film.

Season 3 is finally available with English subtitles on Dramafever. I've been slowly watching the final season over the past 3 weekends and it's just as good as the first two seasons.
