I'm hoping that we'll get to see Series 2 also on Sky Arts.

That´s exactly what I´ve always loved about this show

You´ll never find yourself joining one side or the other. And you understand and feel for each character regardless the team he/she is in.

It's very detailed - we're up to episode 5 and Isabella's still only ... 17, I think. Makes a nice change from series which rush through everything!

Queen Sofia, during an interview for her 75 Birthday, says "Isabel" is one of her favourite TV shows

But the Queen also has another appointment fixed with the TV that does not fail any Monday: the series 'Isabel'. As the protagonist, Sofia has so recorded the monarchical institution in DNA that is not separate to the Queen of the person. Like Isabel, she also puts the Crown to any personal feelings.
I always knew this series was watched in Zarzuela

Isabel's bad dreams episode has been my least favourite so far.Is the Prelate negotiating with the Pope for a dispensation meant to be Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia ?

He is Giacopo Antonio Venier: Giacopo Antonio Venier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If I recall it correctly, Rodrigo Borgia makes his stellar appearance on ep. 12, and he´s an important piece in the negotiations with the Pope to get the dispensation.

Ah thanks for the clarification, hmm as per Wikipedia Cardinal Venier was Enrique IV's Papal Ambassador but in the series he's in cahoots with the King of Aragon in the Papal dispensations ....politics!

I found myself almost feeling sorry for Juan Pacheco in this latest episode and had to remind myself of all the scheming he has done. Is the portrayal of Gonzalo's fairly true - by this I mean was he as close to Isabel as shown in the series?

I felt sorry for his daughter but not for the Marquis, maybe he'll turn over a new leaf

Yes I wondered about that too,as per Wikipedia 'Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, after Alfonso's death in 1468, Córdoba devoted himself to Alfonso's sister, Isabella of Castile' .

So excited about that, this is the summum of my fangirling

What a treat. Please let us all know your impressions.
We are hoping that Sky Arts will obtain the second season - not sure what the viewing figures are like outside Spain.
