Diana had wonderful PR until she decided to go 'directly to the people'; i.e. via Morton and Bashir. The Queen Machine didn't have to do anything to make her look bad. It was all there--from her public behaviour around Charles in the late 80s and early 90s, to her attempts to 'set the story straight', to her disastrous fling with Dodi. Her own words and actions have condemned her.
