Dames van Oranje - New TV programme

[Verde Esmeralda]

From today onwards, Dutch TV channel Nederland 2 will air a series of interviews/profiles of the young princesses of the Dutch RF: Dames van Oranje (Ladies of Orange).

Every chapter (aired Saturdays at 7pm through NCRV) goes over one of the young princesses of Orange: Maxima, Laurentien, Mabel, Annette, Anita, Marilene and Aimee. The host, Jetske van den Elsen, aims to find out more about the daily life, activities, and family life of the seven princesses.

The first chapter, aired today, goes over Maxima (who briefly talks to the host while in in Romania) and can be watched here (Dutch spoken of course):

Btw,don't you have BVN in Switserland?Might be aired there as well.

This was a great program. I can only say 'thank you' in Dutch, so I didn't understand 99% of it, but it was interesting to see. Maxima has a very warm personality, and I enjoyed the end with the interviewer. They seemed to have a great rapport, and Maxima didn't appear to be guarded, or afraid to speak.

During the early part of the video, when the car containing the Queen and her children arrived at the awards presentation, a man rolled up the standard on the front of the car, and it looked like he was going to take it off of the car. Why was he doing this? Was it to prevent theft, or is this the protocol for the time when Her Majesty is out of the car? It looked like he was trying to take it off entirely, but the standard wouldn't come off.

The link provided should work, and as Lucien says, you should be able to see it when clicking "bekijk uitzending". Other possibility is to click on the "missed programmes" (uitzending gemist) and search for Dames van Oranje in the same website:

or you can also try the website www.uitzendinggemist.nl, and search by its name (click on "zoek / zoeken" for searching.)I usually watch reruns of different programs of Nederland 1,2 en 3 through that website

My Dutch is not perfect but I was able to understand it more or less...

The host first talks to paparazzis (while awaiting for the Dutch RF outside the place where the Prins Claus Fonds awards were given away) and tries to investigate how they work.

She talks to different royal specialists, such as Jeroen Snel (Dutch host of the show Blauw Bloed), who gives advice on how to address Maxima when the host gets to talk to her (he says she should always be called "Royal Highness").

The host also explains the limits that the RVD puts in order to manage the relationship with the media, and that Maxima can only be consulted about microcredit, no private questions...

She finally gets to speak to Maxima for a couple of minutes, about microcredit and briefly about her children (though I dont really understand what Maxima says, maybe some Dutch user can help me here).

As far as I understood, the host points out that Maxima asked the RVD people whether the interview went fine or not once finished..am I right?

It is quite endearing of her to ask their approval as she is "the boss" in a way (or perhaps they are. Hope not)

It is curious...but also understandable. They seem quite strict ...

No mather how hard they try, it still won't be possible to dig deeper in the life of these women I am afraid...

Máxima said that she will take the three little savings piglets home to Eikenhorst, that when she is abroad she has a full programme because the time is short and she wants to make most of it, and that she takes into account that she has three daughters at home so she can't go away for a long period of time.

They weren't interviewed by this programme, in RTL Boulevard Peter van der Vorst said that the RVD denied all those requests from the programme. It might be possible that they have a short interview with Laurentien, but on iliteracy & learning only, and maybe with Marilène, but only about her project for the Rijksmuseum.

seems logical come to think of it. The daughters in law without a job have their private lives and want to live in respectable anonimity. Mabel might have something to say about her job. We will wait and see
